Lower Slaughter travel guide and discussion

If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping into a fairytale English countryside, the Cotswolds is an absolute must-visit! Far from the hustle and bustle of London, this region offers nothing but tranquil rolling hills, honey-hued stone cottages, crystal-clear streams, and endless fields of wildflowers 🌷. It’s incredibly healing—every step feels like a scene straight out of Pride and Prejudice. It’s a total dream for those seeking an aesthetic escape and the perfect "slow life" vibe! 🏡 Must-Visit High-Quality Towns 1️⃣ Bibury Address: Bibury, Gloucestershire, England Rumor has it this view is even printed on the UK passport! A visit to Arlington Row is essential—these iconic stone cottages built along the stream, with swans gliding by, are breathtakingly beautiful. Walking along the cobblestone paths feels like stepping into a postcard. 2️⃣ Bourton-on-the-Water Address: Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, England Known as the "Venice of the Cotswolds," the town is centered around a clear river with elegant stone bridges, weeping willows, and charming colorful cottages. You can cross the stepping stones, soak up the sun at a riverside café ☀️, or explore the Model Village. The sparkling water makes the whole place feel like a fairytale come to life! 3️⃣ Broadway Address: Broadway, Worcestershire, England Often called the "Jewel of the Cotswolds," it features a vintage high street and quaint historic churches. I highly recommend hiking up to Broadway Tower for a panoramic view of the entire countryside. At sunset, the scenery is as stunning as a movie frame. 4️⃣ Lacock Address: Lacock, Wiltshire, England A pilgrimage site for Harry Potter fans! As a filming location for the movies, its medieval stone houses and abbey are perfectly preserved. Wandering through here truly feels like walking into the Wizarding World! 🍯 Must-Try Authentic British Eats · English Afternoon Tea ☕️ You have to try the traditional scones served with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Pair it with a pot of tea while taking in the views—it’s the ultimate 100-point "chill" experience! · Cotswold Beef Stew Slow-cooked in red wine, this hearty and warming dish served with carrots and potatoes is perfect for a chilly day. · Local Honey Ice Cream The honey ice cream from local shops is incredibly fragrant and creamy—you won't be able to stop at one scoop! · Fish and Chips The quintessential British snack. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, best enjoyed with vinegar or tartar sauce. The flavor in these village shops is even more authentic! 📌 Cotswolds Travel Tips 1. Best Time to Visit: Spring (April–June) or Autumn (September–October) for the best blooms and stunning seasonal colors. 2. Getting There: Take a train from London Paddington to Cheltenham or Moreton-in-Marsh, then transfer to a bus or hire a private car. 3. Getting Around: Renting a car or hiring a driver is the most flexible way to travel, as the towns are close to each other and the drive itself is magical. 4. Where to Stay: Choose Bourton-on-the-Water or Bibury for the best atmosphere during sunrise and sunset. 5. OOTD: Light colors, beige linen, long dresses, or trench coats—the perfect "English Countryside" style for your photos! In the Cotswolds, every corner is a stunning photo opportunity 📸. No need to just imagine it—come and experience the magic of the fairytale English countryside for yourself!

The Cotswolds, a charming countryside area in England 🇬🇧 Located about a 2-hour train ride from London (Paddington Station), you can get off at Moreton-in-Marsh to reach the Cotswolds. We stayed at the Lords of the Manor, a manor house repurposed from a 17th-century mansion, and explored the Cotswolds by taxi and on foot 🏠 Although England is known for its frequent rain, we experienced a miracle of no rain during our 2-night, 3-day stay in the Cotswolds ✨ The places we visited in the Cotswolds were: 📍Bibury 📍Lower Slaughter 📍Snowshill 📍Broadway Tower 📍Bourton-on-the-Water Everywhere was filled with charming honey-colored buildings, creating a fairytale-like atmosphere 🌍 Bibury is a must-visit spot where you can see quintessential Cotswolds scenery. While we also visited London, the Cotswolds left a deeper impression. It was adorable, peaceful, and time seemed to flow leisurely 🕊️ I’d love to visit the Cotswolds again 🥹 and stay at the Lords of the Manor once more 🫶

Bournemouth Lower Gardens Bournemouth Lower Gardens The garden is not large; it is actually just an urban green space, but it feels especially beautiful because there was basically no one there at the time. Such a peaceful garden. Everywhere you look is bright and lush green, very comfortable, a visual delight. That patch of green truly relaxes the mind. Bournemouth has three city parks: Upper, Central, and Lower, but only Lower Gardens is listed in the directory. Upper Gardens and Central Gardens are not recorded.

The Cotswolds are a range of hills in southwestern and central England, known for their picturesque villages, rolling hills, and historic sites. The area is characterized by its charming villages built from honey-colored limestone. The Cotswolds are also home to several historic sites, including Sudeley Castle, Snowshill Manor and Garden, and Chedworth Roman Villa. The Cotswolds are a popular tourist destination, offering a variety of activities such as hiking, cycling, and horseback riding. The area is also known for its many traditional pubs and restaurants, serving locally sourced food and drink. 🐟Fish and chips are a must-try in the area. 🚗*renting a car is required for this road trip: We took 1 day 1 night around the countryside to explore Cotswold, starting with a night visit to 📍castle combe (picture 2). Embrace the serenity of the small and quiet town. Spend the night around the area, and I recommend Cirencester for a peaceful and quiet night, before heading out the next day to 📍Bibury (picture 3). Visit 📍lower slaughter (pictures 1 and 6) to see the old mill (picture 1), and even engage in activities such as horse riding down the ancient town (picture 6). 📍Bourton-on-the-water (picture 4 and 5) is a serene small town where you can enjoy the beautiful views and stroll through the shophouses to thrift. 📍Broadway tower (last 2 pictures) is a lone standing castle built on a vast land of green hills. A must visit if you want a taste of the old England countryside. #ancienttownvibes #cotswold #cotswoldsmagic #countryside #oldtown #nature #hiking #horseriding #uk

I followed the Trip.com high-end hotel list for Gloucestershire and chose The Slaughters Country Inn. I was worried it might be a letdown, but it completely redefined my perception of a "country vacation"—it felt like I was the owner of the estate. 🤫 There were very few tourists, and it was so quiet that it felt like I had the entire English countryside to myself. 🏨 Hotel impression The overall experience was definitely at a 4-star level. From the environment to the service, everything had that "old-school British" attention to detail, yet the price was surprisingly affordable. I realized after checking in that the experience far exceeded the price point; it’s such a great value that I want to recommend it to everyone 📞. The reasons for its ranking were comprehensive and accurate, and my trust in the Trip.com list has really skyrocketed 📈. 🏡 Unforgettable moments The biggest surprise was the incredibly authentic country vibe 🌿—the hotel itself is a historic Victorian building, but the room facilities are well-maintained and surrounded by natural, unspoiled scenery. The restaurant service was particularly attentive, and the food was excellent. I started looking forward to my next visit as soon as I finished my meal 🍽️. 📌 Stay tips · If you are visiting for the first time, I suggest taking a taxi or bus. It’s a bit of a walk from Bourton-on-the-Water, though the scenery along the way is nice. · The surrounding walking environment is perfect. It’s great for those who love country strolls and taking photos; every shot looks like a masterpiece 📷. · The hotel is all about a natural, unspoiled experience. If you want to experience authentic English country life and stay away from the hustle and bustle of tour groups, this is truly a hidden gem. · If you find that Bourton-on-the-Water is fully booked, you might want to check this place out. You might just get an unexpected surprise like I did.

I recently discovered a real gem by following Trip.com's "Gloucestershire Luxury Hotel List"—The Slaughters Country Inn! This 4-star English country hotel completely exceeded my expectations. ✨ [Stay experience] The hotel enjoys a prime location in the Cotswolds with excellent privacy! 🌳 The large, private courtyard is instantly relaxing, and it is super convenient to drive to popular towns like Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury. The best surprises: ▪️ A massive 300-square-meter parking lot 🅿️—a dream for road trippers. ▪️ Rooms so spacious you could dance in them, and bedding so comfortable I wanted to buy the same set. ▪️ Freshly made scones with jam for breakfast—finger-licking good! 🍓 [Must-do tips] 1️⃣ You must take a morning stroll in the courtyard! The rose garden in the mist looks just like a movie scene. 2️⃣ If you are driving, remember to book a room type that includes parking so you do not have to worry about finding a spot. 3️⃣ I recommend bringing a book; it is so cozy to read on the vintage sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window in the afternoon. Unlike the cookie-cutter feel of chain hotels, every detail here exudes the refinement of the English countryside. It is no wonder it consistently ranks at the top of the list. I will definitely be back next time I am in the Cotswolds!

The Lovozero Massif sits east of the Khibiny Mountains. It's slightly lower in elevation (Angvundaschorr peaks at 1,120 m) and is ringed by Lake Lovozero and Lake Umbozero, right in the heartland of the Sami people. I took a suburban train from Murmansk to Olenegorsk (500 ₽), then caught a bus from Olenegorsk to the village of Lovozero (~900 ₽, a 2-hour ride, runs once a day). I spent the night in Lovozero (got a basic corridor room for 500 ₽) and headed out to hike the western tundra at 6:30 AM in July. The cliff moss here acts as a natural seep for the pasture: you'll find Hylocomium and Sphagnum in the hollows where the reindeer herds wander down to drink, Fissidens clinging to the basalt of the Elmorajok gully, and Metzgeria thriving on the north-facing cliffs above the Lovozero shore. The tundra moss is heavily mixed with Cladonia lichen (the famous white "reindeer moss" is actually a lichen, not a moss, which tourists often confuse). Around 7:00 AM, I watched a herd of 40 reindeer cross the gully, their hooves squelching in the damp moss. A Sami herder followed on an ATV about 200 meters away; we didn't exchange a word. The village of Lovozero does have a Sami ethno-village (Sam'-syit, though it's actually 120 km south—the town of Lovozero itself just has the regional museum). Mistakes I made: I arrived expecting well-marked trails like you'd find in Khibiny, but Lovozero has none—just reindeer paths and stone cairns. Do yourself a favor and hire a local guide (around 3,000 ₽/day), or you'll end up walking in circles around the same gully. Another mistake: I wore trail runners, and the uneven tundra tussocks completely rolled my ankle. You really need bog shoes or stiff hiking boots out here. Would you hike the western Lovozero tundra at 7:00 AM with a local guide to see the reindeer moss pastures, or would you skip it and do the Seydozero trek instead?

#easytravelpost Royal Natal National Park is the front lawn of the Amphitheatre, and most people stop at the Mahai Camp viewpoint. I stayed at Tinde Lodge (self-cater chalet R900/night, cards ok) and walked the Tinde Loop—6 km circle from the lodge up the Mahai river gorge to the lower Mahai fall pool, then back through the yellowwood shade. The pool below the fall is moss-rimmed, 10°C in December, and the rock shelf on the south side stays wet enough for fern and liverwort even in dry months. I ate lunch there at 13:00 when the spray made a 5 m rainbow. The path is graded, no ladder, but the last 200 m to the pool is boulder-hop—grippy shoes. Park gate R110 (international ~R120), cash at the booth; chalet cards at reception. Mistake: I swam the pool in March after rain and a leech latched—don’t swim after KZN summer storms, the river carries berg leeches. Another: I tried to walk Tinde at 15:00 in February and a thunderhead built over the Amphitheatre in 20 min; do it before 10:00. Would you base at Royal Natal for the Amphitheatre day-hike and use Tinde as a rest-day walk, or skip the lodge and camp at Mahai for the river sound?

A Relaxing Cotswold Getaway: A Romantic Trip to Slaughterhouse Inn 🏡✨ Hello everyone, I recently visited the Cotswolds, England with my lovely daughter. It's not only picturesque but also has many interesting places to explore. We stayed at Slaughterhouse Inn, and today I'd like to share my experience. 🌳 Tranquil Moments in the Garden Upon entering the hotel, I was immediately captivated by the lush garden. In the morning, sunlight filtered through the leaves, creating a fairytale-like atmosphere. My daughter and I strolled through the garden, breathing in the fresh air, feeling incredibly relaxed. The hotel's garden was exquisitely designed, with every corner offering a sense of relaxation and joy. 🌿 🎾 Family Time on the Tennis Court The hotel also has an outdoor tennis court. Taking advantage of the good weather, we brought our tennis rackets and played a friendly match with my daughter. Although our skills weren't great, the joy was priceless. The tennis court was well-maintained, so there was no need to worry about injury. Here, you can not only exercise but also strengthen your parent-child bond. 🏆 🍴 A hearty breakfast to start your day right The hotel's breakfast is renowned for its abundance. We chose a restaurant called Lounge, where the breakfast selection was plentiful, ranging from traditional English breakfast to a variety of fresh fruits and breads. The steaming hot coffee, in particular, was fragrant and delicious, giving us a real energy boost for the morning. ☕️ 🛋️ A comfortable room for a good night's sleep We stayed in a standard room, which was spacious and bright, with very comfortable beds. The beautiful view from the window upon entering was instantly relaxing. The room was equipped with a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi, making it easy to stay connected with family and friends. The bathroom was also very clean, with all the necessary toiletries; a hot shower completely washed away the day's fatigue. 🌟 Slaughterhouse Inn not only boasts a great location, but it's also surrounded by many interesting places, such as the Burton Model Railway Museum and the Cotswold Automobile Museum. Whether for a family trip or a romantic getaway, this is a great choice. We hope you can also experience this tranquility and beauty! 💖

For a day in the Cotswolds, it’s best to have a car so you can make your way from one historic town to the next, enjoying the narrow winding roads, lined with hedge rows. There are many bigger and busier places to visit, like Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow on the Wold, Broadway, etc. But this time we chose to visit some of the smaller, lesser known, yet highly picturesque Cotswolds towns. We started in Winchcombe, which is a beautiful old town with a large castle (Sudeley Castle) and many pubs. After visiting the castle and having a look at the St Peter church, we stopped in the White Hart Inn for a nice pub lunch! Great food and atmosphere in this pub. We then drove to the Slaughters (Upper and Lower Slaughter) to visit some more small historic villages. The views on the drive through the countryside are as beautiful as the towns themselves. #uktrip #cotswolds #england

It’s small, quiet, and irresistibly pretty—perfect for a relaxed stroll or a lazy afternoon by the water. 🇬🇧Hidden Paradise | Wandering through the villages🏡 Peaceful Slaughter, unlocking the secret of the British countryside When your soul yearns for a rendezvous with nature, Cotswold - this "green heart of England"🌱, is the poetic dwelling you've been dreaming of. Speaking of Cotswold, Bibury and Bourton-on-the-Water may be well-known. They are like the British version of Wuzhen and Xitang, beautiful but crowded. It takes half an hour to find a parking space🚗💨. However, Lower Slaughter and Upper Slaughter, these twin villages gently separated by a babbling brook, are like independent pearls, quietly waiting for the footsteps of travelers👣. They are hidden not far from popular attractions, only a 20-minute drive away, but it seems like they are in another time and space. Lower Slaughter, at first sight, feels peaceful. The honey-colored brick houses are gently entwined with green vines🌿. The small restaurant and museum at the entrance of the village are enough to keep you lingering for more than half an hour. Then, after a ten-minute drive, the tranquil scroll of Upper Slaughter slowly unfolds, and every inch of land here exudes undisturbed primitive charm. Here, time seems to stand still. Apart from the occasional bird song🐦, the sound of water, and the call of the distant flock of sheep, there is no other disturbance. Walking around, every step is a beautiful scene, every moment is worth cherishing📸. I, in this tranquility, unconsciously wandered for an hour and a half, and still felt unsatisfied. If you plan a trip to Cotswold, don't miss the peaceful twins of Slaughter Village. They use the purest British countryside style to heal every soul that yearns to escape from the hustle and bustle.

Nestled in the heart of the UK's idyllic countryside, The Slaughters Manor House on Copsehill Road, Lower Slaughter, is a renovated noble abode that's every bit as luxurious as you'd imagine. 🚗💭 Imagine pulling up to this grand estate, where the charm of yesteryears blends with modern opulence. I splurged on a suite, and it was worth every penny! 💖 The room's grandeur was matched by the sprawling dresser room, ensuring a royal prep for the day. 🛍️👑 The afternoon tea here? An absolute feast! Sharing a single serving was a delightful decision that left me more than satisfied. 🍰☕ Strolling the grounds post-tea felt like having a private slice of aristocratic heaven. 🚶‍♂️🌿 And although I missed an in-room breakfast due to a little forgetfulness, the English breakfast at the restaurant was a leisurely and fulfilling start to the day. 🍳🍴 This stay was a dream come true, a perfect blend of historical luxury and serene privacy. 🌟🛌 #UnitedKingdom #UKHotel #TravelGoals

Amidst the grandeur of a Queensland winter, where the sun orchestrates a symphony of fiery hues across the sky and the air carries a crisp vitality, lies the enchantment of Fraser Island. My initial expedition to this sanctuary proved transformative, igniting a yearning to return. Accompanied by cherished companions, our journey unfolds as a rich narrative of exploration, a tapestry woven with laughter, awe, and the untamed spirit embodied by the island's iconic dingoes. Queensland's winter embraced us warmly, and Fraser Island inscribed its enduring magic upon the chambers of our hearts. 🌞🏝️✨

My long-awaited manor house🇬🇧 ⁡ Manor houses are hotels that were renovated from the mansions of aristocrats and lords🏨 ⁡ I rented a car because I wanted to stay here🥺 ⁡ As you would expect from a mansion, it's a very luxurious mansion✨ ⁡ I splurged on a suite room💕 ⁡ As soon as I arrived, I had afternoon tea, and then I walked around the mansion🫖 I shared one serving of afternoon tea💕 ⁡ Even one serving was quite a lot, so I was full✨ ⁡ When I checked in, I was asked what I would like for dinner, but I'm glad I told them I had afternoon tea! ⁡ There were few guests, so I had the place to myself🥺 The room was simply gorgeous! I could put on makeup in the dressing room, and it was very spacious and comfortable💕 ⁡ I forgot to order in-room breakfast the day before, so I went to the restaurant. ⁡ It was a shame because I would have had a leisurely breakfast in my room💦 ⁡ But I still had an English breakfast and was able to relax✨ ⁡ It was a truly dreamlike stay🥺🥺 #EuropeTrip #UKTrip #HotelStay #ManorHouse

Upper Slaughter and Lower Slaughter are a pair of twin villages, the epitome of the idyllic, quiet and beautiful British countryside. Not much has changed in these two villages in over a century ❤️. A winding stream runs through Lower Slaughter. An old mill lies quietly in a corner. A huge waterwheel turns from time to time, attracting many tourists to check in. Lower Slaughter was once selected as one of the top ten beautiful towns in Cotswolds. Upper Slaughter, the "Village Blessed by God", is also worth your exploration of its uniqueness. #BritishTravel #BritishAttractions
