Taking advantage of the long weekend, I took a trip to Tobermory, about a 4-hour drive from Toronto. This time, I explored several popular trails within Bruce Peninsula National Park, each with its own unique charm. Here’s a route guide for your reference. 📍The Grotto ▫️Distance: 4 km ▫️Duration: 2 hours ▫️Navigation: Grotto Parking ▫️Route: See map in image 2 The most popular trail in the entire park, parking must be reserved in advance during peak season. We followed the green line entering from George Bay Trail, then returned along the blue line via Horse Lake Trail. The whole route is not difficult. The Miarr Lake trail is a bit more challenging. The Grotto is truly worth visiting; the lake water is a dreamy turquoise, crystal clear, and every photo you take looks amazing. In July and August, when the weather is warmer, you’ll see many people swimming and diving here. 📍Halfway Log Dump ▫️Distance: 2 km ▫️Duration: 1 hour ▫️Navigation: Halfway Log Dump Parking ▫️Route: See map in image 5 The second most popular hike on Flowerpot Island, parking reservation is also required. The route is short, ending at a white pebble beach. The stones here are all round, making it hard to find a flat one for skipping stones. The trail’s end connects with the Bruce Trail, and if you have enough energy, you can continue west to Cave Point. 📍Singing Sands ▫️Distance: 1.5 km ▫️Duration: 1 hour ▫️Navigation: Singing Sands Parking Lot ▫️Route: See map in image 8 Half of the trail is a boardwalk, the other half is a sandy path, with various flowers along the way. It’s an easy and pleasant walk, perfect for a slow stroll to watch the sunset. 📍Burnt Point Loop ▫️Distance: 4 km ▫️Duration: 2 hours ▫️Navigation: Parks Canada Visitor Centre ▫️Route: See map in image 10 You can start by watching a short film about the park’s ecology at the visitor centre and browse the exhibits before beginning your hike. Enter via the green line, then connect to the blue line for a loop. The green line is gentle and suitable for all ages, while the blue line winds through the forest with several lakeside lookouts along the way, offering stunning views.

Day 1: Toronto → Tobermory Depart from Toronto in the morning, with a stop near Owen Sound for meals and refueling. After arriving in Tobermory in the afternoon, check in first. It is not recommended to rush to the Grotto immediately as driving can be tiring. In the evening, visit Big Tub Lighthouse to enjoy the lake view and lighthouse, then take a stroll and have dinner in the town of Tobermory. · Day 2: The Grotto Reserve a morning parking slot at the Grotto for the second day. Walk the trail from the parking lot to Indian Head Cove and The Grotto. This is the highlight of the entire trip. The lake water here is very clear, with beautiful rocks, cliffs, and turquoise lake surface. If you still have energy in the afternoon, you can visit Singing Sands Beach, which is more relaxed than the Grotto and perfect for walking and watching the sunset. Return to Tobermory town for dinner, and if the weather is good, enjoy the starry sky. · Day 3: Flowerpot Island / Return Trip There are two options for the third day. If you want a full experience, take a morning boat to Flowerpot Island. It features natural flowerpot rocks, trails, a lighthouse, and clear lake water, suitable for a half-day tour. It is recommended to book the morning boat and drive back to Toronto after returning to Tobermory in the afternoon. If you prefer a more relaxed day, have breakfast in Tobermory town, stroll around the harbor, or enjoy a nearby easy lake view, then return around noon or in the afternoon. · Accommodation: The most convenient place to stay is near Tobermory town, making dining and boat rides easy. For a closer-to-nature experience, stay at Cyprus Lake Campground. We spent a weekend in Port Elgin as Mother’s Day celebrations. It’s a great place to stay if you want to avoid the crowds. The beaches are beautiful but not many restaurants and cafes. Have a picnic there will be great. The water is really clear, we can see there’s a lot of fish.
