Who thought one of the places to find cherry blossom is at the highest mountain in Thailand? Normally cherry blossom viewing is organised by a tour group but instead of joining them I chose to rent a car instead to save cost. The journey took almost 3 hours ride from our hotel in Chiang Mai and we arrived quite early but there is literally nobody waiting at the entrance so we paid 0 entrance fee bcs the cherry blossom season has ended so lucky us? 😅 We arrived at the end of January early Feb but I can say peak bloom is definitely in the mid of January. The flower is still there but it is wilting. One of the most chill experiences I had in Chiang Mai was spending half a day trip at Chang Chill, an ethical elephant sanctuary tucked into the hills. No rides, no shows, no feeding, no bathing just elephants being elephants. I watched them roam freely, graze, and bathe themselves in the river, all at their own pace.
