We chanced upon Malio Gelato when strolling down Jalan Maliboro in Yogyakarta. From the outside, the place looked fancy but you would be surprised by the prices - IDR 35k for a double scoop come/ cup, IDR 50k for a triple scoop cup. This is literally a gelato lover's paradise! We ordered the double scoop cone to give it a try. There were a huge assortment of flavours to choose from, and we finally settled on the Crema Limone and Biscoff flavoured gelato. Their Crema Limone gelato had a refreshing, zesty flavour, with a creamy texture that melted in our mouths. It was kinda like sunshine in a scoop! The Biscoff gelato was rich and had that classic cookie taste. It was smooth, so it didn’t have Biscoff bits or anything of that sort. Nonetheless, we enjoyed this classic flavour. The gelateria itself has a charming atmosphere, with bright colors and inviting seating areas perfect for enjoying your sweet treat. The staff are friendly and helpful, and you can even ask them to give you some small samples to help you decide on your the flavours of choice. We arrived in Malioboro, the center of Yogyakarta. During the day, the sun was strong and the temperature exceeded 30 degrees due to the dry season, so we recommend using Grab/Gojek for transportation.

I spent a few days in Yogyakarta City in Indonesia this week. And my visit here wouldn’t be complete without visiting the famous Malioboro Street! This street in the heart of Yogyakarta City is famous for its festive atmosphere, street vendors, and shops selling a variety of goods like batik clothing, souvenirs, handicrafts, and local delicacies. Because it was Lebaran, there were so many people that there was no room to walk. You can meet the real people of Yogyakarta here. I recommend buying souvenirs here (especially batik).
