Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance: A Classical Architectural Landmark Merging Culture and Architecture
The Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance is not only a place to commemorate the heroic deeds of Australian soldiers but also a masterpiece of Western architecture with significant historical and architectural value. Located south of Melbourne's city center, this shrine attracts countless tourists and architecture enthusiasts with its solemn atmosphere and classic architectural style.
**Embodiment of Classical Architecture**
Built in 1934, the design of the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance is heavily influenced by ancient Greek classical architecture, particularly the Parthenon in Athens. The front of the shrine features a series of Doric columns symbolizing strength and stability, giving a sense of solemnity and tranquility. The entire structure employs a symmetrical design, simple yet grand, showcasing the elegance and majesty of classical architecture.
**Magnificent Interior Design**
The interior design of the shrine is equally impressive. The central memorial hall houses a stone plaque commemorating fallen soldiers, inscribed with 'Greater love hath no man,' symbolizing their sacrifice for the nation. Every year on November 11th at 11 AM, sunlight passes through the oculus at the top, precisely illuminating this inscription. This precise and symbolic design fills the space with a solemn sense of ceremony.
**Surrounding Landscape and Architectural Complex**
The shrine is surrounded by expansive gardens and lawns, echoing the solemnity of the structure and creating a serene and reverent environment. The exterior walls of the shrine are made of limestone, a material that is not only durable but also blends seamlessly with the surrounding natural environment. Nearby memorial squares and reflection pools add more architectural and landscape elements to the entire memorial complex, forming a complete commemorative architectural group.
**Fusion of Culture and Architecture**
The Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance is more than just a building; it is a cultural symbol. It merges Australia's admiration for classical architecture with the commemoration of modern history, becoming an indispensable part of Melbourne's cityscape. Every year, ANZAC Day and Armistice Day events held here attract thousands of people to pay their respects. At these moments, the architectural beauty of the shrine intertwines more closely with its historical significance.
In summary, the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance, with its unique Western classical architectural style and profound cultural significance, has become an important landmark in Melbourne and Australia. Whether as a historical heritage or an exemplar of architectural art, this shrine exudes unforgettable charm.

The most beautiful is the white dome and the octagonal reading room, which complement each other, 8 retro long wooden tables, each table has a green desk lamp, as if telling their stories.
The best check-in position is on the third or fifth floor, where you can take pictures of the entire circular dome, which is very symmetrical, and enjoy the wonderful reading time here.

Plaza premium lounge in Melbourne
Plaza premium lounge in Melbourne, one of the airport lounge that serves coffee art coffee! I ordered a hot cappuccino and I was so surprised to see the coffee art when I got my coffee. The staff here is so powerful, she is the bartender, barista and also serves me hot noodles. Good job to her!!
This airport lounge is quite casual and quiet, it’s located next to one of the arrival exit so you will see many passengers passing by. The food here are pretty unremarkable as well, but I love the small bites corner! I love the cookies and their signature gummies 😙😙 there are also salad and cheese section, the cheese here are quite limited, but it’s good enough to satisfy your craving.
The wine here are quite nice as well, refillable! There are the cooked food section as well, I ordered a Chicken pho, which tasted pretty normal. But it’s nice to have a hot bowl of noodles when you’re feeling cold.
It’s a pretty nice place to chill while waiting for your flight! :)

The majestic State Library of Victoria
The majestic State Library of Victoria in the heart of Melbourne is a must-visit for any bibliophile or architecture enthusiast. As one of the first sights that greeted me in the city, its imposing façade and domed roof demand attention. Venturing inside, I was amazed by the sheer scale of the place - over 2 million books spread across multiple floors open to the public. The highlight is undoubtedly the grand reading room, with its soaring ceilings and rows of long wooden tables under a glittering stained glass dome. It's easy to imagine the ghosts of scholars past hunched studiously over their work.
Yet the library also manages to blend 19th century grandeur with modern technology seamlessly. While preserving its heritage, there are now computers and wifi access scattered throughout for digital-age visitors. The addition of a children's garden and play area make it family-friendly too. Beyond the books, there are interesting temporary exhibitions to enjoy as well as the fascinating Cowen Gallery chronicling the library's history since it opened in 1854.

Dinosaur World Somerville 🇦🇺
#timetotravel
Dinosaur World in Somerville, Australia, is a prehistoric paradise that takes you on an incredible journey through time. As a fan of both dinosaurs and history, I was delighted by this unique attraction.
The park is home to life-sized dinosaur replicas, each meticulously crafted to look and sound like the real thing. Walking among these towering giants, I felt like I had stepped back in time to an era when these incredible creatures roamed the Earth.
What sets Dinosaur World apart is the educational aspect. There are informative displays and knowledgeable staff who eagerly share facts about each dinosaur, making it an engaging and fun learning experience for visitors of all ages.
The lush, landscaped grounds make for a picturesque setting, and there's even a fossil dig where you can try your hand at uncovering ancient treasures.
Dinosaur World is a must-visit for families, dinosaur enthusiasts, or anyone seeking a unique and educational adventure. It's a journey back in time that you won't soon forget.
Melbourne's Cityscape
Melbourne is a city that took my breath away with its diverse and striking architecture. From modern skyscrapers to Victorian-era buildings, this Australian gem has it all for architecture lovers like myself.
As I strolled along the Yarra River, I was greeted by the sight of Federation Square's iconic modern design. With its sloping planes and mix of zinc, glass and sandstone, this public square shows Melbourne's embrace of contemporary architecture. Nearby Flinders Street Station, in contrast, is a stunning remnant of the city's colonial past. The prominent domed building built in 1910 remains a treasured landmark.
Venturing into the Central Business District, I craned my neck upwards to admire the towering skyscrapers. Our guide highlighted the unusual triangle-shaped Tower Melbourne, before pointing out the striking blue glass exterior of the Eureka Tower. At almost 300 meters high, this skyscraper offers incredible views from its observation deck.
Just outside the city center in inner suburbs like Fitzroy, Carlton and St Kilda, blocks of attached Victorian terraces with wrought iron lacework delighted me with their old-world charm. And the World Heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building, constructed in 1880 for the Melbourne International Exhibition, remains an outstanding symbol of the city's 19th century pride and confidence.
With its respect for the old and embrace of the new, Melbourne has curated an architectural experience like no other for visitors. The diversity of building styles here, from modern wonders to historic icons, tells the story of an innovative city confidently looking to the future without forgetting its past. I was thoroughly impressed.
