Let it go 🎶 Let it go 🎶 Immerse yourself in Frozen ❄️
This winter, you absolutely must visit Ice Castles in Utah, USA! Located in Midway, a city in northern Utah, it's just an hour's drive from Salt Lake City. It's open for 4-6 weeks each year from late December to early January. The entrance to this sculpted ice castle, complete with mesmerizing lighting, is truly stunning. We walked through an archway and snow path into the castle, and every corner is a photo hotspot—it's incredibly dreamy! Inside, there are ice slides, igloos, ice tunnels, and other features that make you feel like you're in the Arctic. Note that if you're traveling with children, it's best to avoid bringing strollers, as they can be difficult to walk on the snow. Parents are advised to bring sleds. It's highly recommended to buy tickets online in advance, as there are different time slots to choose from, and tickets sell out quickly during peak seasons and holidays. Adults (12 years and older) pay $23 USD, and children (4-11 years) pay $16 USD.

Glaciers underfoot, poetry in the heart. In the sunshine of Utah, slowly starting a new year
This year, I didn’t go home or back to my country for the New Year. Instead, I flew straight to Utah to celebrate with friends. I wanted to see snowy mountains and capture that whole scene glowing white, but—this year, the snow is really light 😂
In the distance, the Wasatch Mountains only have a little snow on the peaks, and the mid-mountain areas are basically bare. Honestly, I felt a bit disappointed when I first arrived because I had imagined something with a “Nordic vibe.”
But! The weather was really amazing.
The sunlight was super clear, the sky was a pure blue, and the lake’s reflection was especially beautiful. Without thick snow cover, the mountain textures were more distinct, giving the photos strong depth. The wind was a bit chilly, but not bone-chilling—just a crisp, refreshing winter.
We slowly walked along the lakeside, chatting as we went. No fireworks, no noisy New Year’s Eve dinner, but it felt more relaxed. Celebrating the New Year seemed to become a feeling of “togetherness.”
Amid the vast mountains and waters, I suddenly felt that the new year doesn’t have to be loud to start comfortably. And honestly, good weather really makes for great photos.
Blue sky + lake + a touch of snowy peaks = every snap looks like a postcard.

If you come to Utah in winter, you don’t have to wait for heavy snow; sunny days are beautiful too. Really.
