After a day of enjoying Mount Tsukuba, I drove to Mito that night 🚗 I stayed at "Kinoie Guesthouse Annex" that night. I booked a mixed-gender dormitory room. The room was about 6 tatami mats in size, with bunk beds lined up, and one of them was my bed for the night. The beds were separated only by curtains, a very simple style. It's nowhere near a luxurious hotel, but the place was clean, and since I only needed a place to sleep after sightseeing that day, it was perfectly adequate 😊 And what surprised me most was the price! In November 2024, when I stayed there, there was a discount, and it was only 2,495 yen per night! 😳 I thought that for a day of travel where "all I need is a place to sleep!", something this simple is perfectly fine. Currently, "Kinoie Guesthouse Annex" is still offered as a mixed-gender dormitory in a renovated old house, and guests can use the kitchen, free Wi-Fi, showers, and washing machine. There was also a courtyard with a relaxing space. And near this inn, I found "Teuchi Soba Ninomae" (Handmade Soba Ninomae). The soba served here was quite special. They use "Hitachi Aki Soba," a representative soba from Ibaraki Prefecture. In particular, they use very precious buckwheat grown by hand on traditional steep slopes in areas such as Akatsuchi-cho in the Kanasago district and Tanaya-cho in the Suifu district of Hitachiota City. The soba is milled in-house as needed and carefully made. I just happened to stumble upon this restaurant nearby and went in, but later I was surprised to learn that "I was eating such precious soba!" Currently, this restaurant has been selected as one of the "Soba EAST Top 100 Restaurants 2025." You can drink one cup for just ¥300. The map of Ibaraki Prefecture has a map of the sake breweries and the manufacturing process, so it's easy to understand. Decided to head to Kairakuen so we drove and parked next to the park. It was a lovely day, sunny and windy. Lovely swan posing elegantly next to the cherry blossom tree. During the season, all you need to do is just find a park and walk in, you will find yourself surrounded by lovely flowers. Anyway it was until the very end of the walk that we realized we have not entered the Kairakuen which requires entrance fee. We have thought the park that we walked was Kairakuen. 😅 Blur me who did not do the research well. Hoping I will get another chance to visit Japan in the cherry blossom season and go back to Kairakuen!#japan

A trip to Ibaraki for gourmet food and scenic spots 🌱 Kairakuen, famous for its plum blossoms, and cafes 🌸☕️ . Kairakuen, the pride of Ibaraki Prefecture, is famous for its plum blossoms. It was a while ago, but it was in full bloom and it was so beautiful!! We went into the plum garden and took pictures and walked around surrounded by plum blossoms. 📸 . After getting tired from walking, we went to the cafe inside Kairakuen! The sweets served in mortars were so delicious 🤤 The classic tiramisu and something that gave us a Japanese and spring feeling. I went to the Mito Plum Festival at Kairakuen, one of Japan's three most famous gardens. ✨ The Plum Festival is an early spring event held every year from mid-February to late March at Kairakuen and Kodokan. It was mid-March, so the plum blossoms were in full bloom, the weather was good, and it was crowded with tourists!
