Spent the morning exploring the coast of Nerja by kayak. We joined a guided tour from Burriana Beach and it was so worth it. We paddled past sea caves, hidden coves, and the stunning Maro waterfall, where fresh water spills right into the sea. The water was super blue and crystal clear; you could see fish darting below the kayak 🐠💦. After a quick swim and some beach time, we wandered into town and found Nybakat, a cozy Scandinavian café with unreal pastries and, in my opinion, the best coffee in Nerja ☕🥐. The cardamom bun is a must. If you’re driving, there’s plenty of parking along the Burriana Boulevard, just a short walk from the beach, super easy even in summer. Day3: Last but not least Nerja- Take an Alsa bus from Málaga to Nerja where you can enjoy visiting one of the most beautiful coast towns in Costa del sol. The environment is purely traditional Andalusian life style and apart from enjoying a beautiful beach visit, you must eat in the famous restaurant "El pulguilla" a traditional always busy restaurant serving fresh fish and other Spanish food from Tuesday to Sunday. 📌 Tips - 1. take the one hour fast train to Córdoba. 2. After a 10-day trip, I can say the historical heritage is incredible, but organizational issues and minor inconveniences often spoil the overall experience. I doubt I’ll visit a second time. Here is my detailed and objective report on the main attractions, logistics, and costs. ### What’s Really Worth Seeing (My Top 3): 1. **Sagrada Família (Barcelona)**. Gaudi's masterpiece, stunning for the play of light inside. You must buy tickets on the official website at least 2-3 weeks in advance. Resellers charge significantly higher prices—there’s no point in overpaying. 2. **Toledo**. The ancient capital, a medieval museum-city just an hour from Madrid. A very atmospheric place, perfect for walking through its historic quarters. 3. **Alhambra (Granada)**. A majestic Moorish palace complex. Tickets here sell out a month or two in advance, so plan your trip well ahead of time. Don't even bother going there without a prior booking. ### Why This Country Isn't Right for a Second Visit: · **Safety**. The number of pickpockets in Barcelona, especially in the metro and the Gothic Quarter, is simply staggering. Constantly clutching your backpack to your chest and monitoring your phone isn't the kind of relaxation I expected. · **Restaurant Schedules**. Lunch at 2 PM and dinner at 9 PM is just too much for my body. If you're used to a standard schedule, you'll have a hard time because most decent establishments are simply closed between 4 PM and 8 PM. · **Prices in Tourist Areas**. Buying a basic bottle of water for 4 euros near landmarks is robbery. Try to find regular supermarkets away from the center. · **Language Barrier**. In the south of the country, English is almost non-existent. It’s extremely difficult to communicate without an offline translator on your phone. ### Logistics and Finances: · **Transport**: The most convenient way to travel between cities is by Renfe high-speed trains. Buy tickets online in advance—prices double right before departure. For shorter distances, buses are a perfectly comfortable and much cheaper alternative. · **Budget**: For a comfortable 10-day trip (excluding airfare), budget approximately €1,300–€1,800 per person. This includes good three-star hotels, museum tickets, and meals. Spain is worth seeing for its classic sights once. But I won’t be returning because of the chaotic service and daily inconveniences.

My Pro Tip: Ride a bike from Playa de Maro up toward Alcúdia’s wall. The route is scenic but get ready for some hills—bring water, and layer up, especially in spring/fall when mornings are brisk. For max comfort, rent a lightweight e-bike and try to start after breakfast; cafés near Playa de Maro do legit fresh croissants. Getting Around: Bike rentals are easy near Nerja (ask local shops or book through trip.com!). For Raiguer, public buses run to Alcúdia town, then it’s a short walk to the wall. Standing on the "European Balcony" in this white town surrounded by the sea on three sides, you can gaze out over the Mediterranean. Although it doesn't have the developed film industry or diverse shooting locations like Almería, which serves as a base for many international blockbusters, Nerja remains an important place in Spanish popular film and television culture, especially in TV dramas and Mediterranean-themed works. This town holds the memories of several generations in Spain, as the 1981 TV series "Verano Azul" (Blue Summer), which tells the story of young people vacationing by the sea, made Nerja famous. Many beaches, old town streets, and areas near the European Balcony featured in the show are deeply ingrained in the hearts of Spaniards. This nationally beloved Spanish series is comparable in popularity to China's "Princess Pearl," the U.S.'s "Friends," or Japan's "Long Vacation." After wandering around the town for half an hour, visiting a few beaches and strolling down a street, the atmosphere was peaceful and leisurely. In a rush before leaving, I took a quick look inside the town's most famous church, then headed to the park parking lot, where I discovered the boat of the old fisherman Chanquete, a must-photograph icon for Spaniards visiting here. The natural scenery and geographical conditions here are excellent. Most visitors come to check in for the youthful memories evoked by the TV series, while others, like me, follow the filming locations to travel with the light and shadow. Walking and pausing here brings a truly calm and peaceful mood. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to dip my feet in the water at the beach before continuing on to Málaga, Spain's fifth-largest city.
