The Cathedral Basilica of St. Mary also called the Catholic Cathedral of the Assumption, is the cathedral church of the Latin Diocese of Oradea Mare. The basilica was built between 1752 and 1780, and was designed by Italian architect Giovanni Battista Ricca (1691-1757). After the death of the first architect, construction was completed by the Viennese Franz Anton Hillebrandt and the church was adorned with baroque decorations of Austria. The other nice churches are Holy Spirit Parish Church (built 1748), Moon Church (built 1784), Our Lady of Sorrows Premonstratensian Church (former Pauline Church, built around 1741), Our Lady of the Sickle Capuchin Church (built 1734), The Annunciation Orthodox Church in Várad-Újváros. Oradea is known for its high standard of living and is frequently ranked among Romania's most liveable cities. The historic district contains numerous examples of Baroque, Neoclassical, Eclectic, and Romanian Revival styles, contributing to its architectural variety. We can also admire these beautiful buildings at night. This city is so nice and it is so smartly lit at night that I couldn't decide whether the city is more beautiful during the day or at night. The central square that is crossed by a small river, Crișul Repede is really breathtakingly beautiful. After dark, there are still many people on the street, but around midnight even the main square and the walking street become deserted. Only a few young people talked here and there. There is more nightlife on weekends. The railway station was open all night. It was perfectly safe, nobody disturbed me. It was pleasant walking around and taking photos. At this moment there's a train replacement bus between Biharkeresztes and Episcopia Bihor. Between Episcopia Bihor and Oradea the city bus is more frequent than the train. #travel #city #center #night

#2024wish Only came back from a great day spent at the Oradea Zoo, and it was such an enjoyable time! In Oradea, Romania 🇷🇴 there was an entrance fee for working adults of around 10 RON which is about $2.5 making it easily affordable. They also have discounts for children which is ideal to families. While this zoo might be smaller compared to others, it’s full of charm and character. The enclosures themselves are kept in good condition, and the animals appeared to be happy and treated well. There is an array of majestic lions, playful monkeys and color parrots to be viewed. An interesting feature was the amicable environment of peace – the park is located in splendid nature, creating a pleasant surrounding for visitors. They also have a tiny snack and drinks café. The nearby places to visit include the Barocco-style Oradea Fortress for history lesson and baths as therapy. In conclusion, Oradea Zoo is a great place to spend time with your family or pet lovers. #OradeaZoo #FamilyFun #WildlifeAdventure 🌳🐾
