✓ Reservation method:
Directly search the Sundory official website and select the tourist factory. There are two whiskey distilleries, one is the Yamazaki Distillery (Osaka Prefecture) and the other is the Hakushu Distillery (Yamanashi Prefecture). To enter the visit, you must make an online reservation in advance. If you don't make an appointment, you can't buy wine!
There are three types of visiting itineraries:
1. Visit the Whisky Museum, free.
2. Yamazaki Brewing Tour (Japanese), lottery system, including wine tasting, the whole process is about 80 minutes, the cost is ¥3,000 yen
3. Yamazaki Brewing Tour Prestige (Japanese), by lottery, more areas to visit, tasting directly to drink more advanced 12-year-old whiskey, the whole process takes 120 minutes, and only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the cost is ¥10,000 yen.
✓ Transportation:
Yamazaki Distillery is located at the foot of Tennozan in the southwest of Kyoto, at the junction of Kyoto Prefecture and Osaka Prefecture. It is the oldest malt whiskey distillery in Japan.
From Kyoto Station, take the JR Tokaido and Sanyo Main Line to Osaka, go through 5 stations, and arrive at Yamazaki Station in about 15 minutes.
There are obvious signs after exiting the station. Turn right to Yamazaki Distillery, turn left to Oyamazaki Villa Museum, both of which require crossing the level crossing. It is about a 15-minute walk to Yamazaki Distillery.
✓ Stores:
You will be issued an identification card if you make an appointment for a visit, and you must swipe the identification card to buy goods, so you must make an appointment. But you can't buy the whiskey you want in the store. There are only limited editions of 180ml small bottles, special edition plum wine, wine tasting related utensils and cultural and creative peripherals.
✓ On-site wine tasting:
You don't need to take a paid tour, visit the free museum, or pay to drink on the spot, and basically there is any wine you want here! The most popular ones on the spot are 3 and 5 small cup tasting sets.
