MENTAWAI ISLAND, WEST SUMATRA
The natural beauty of the Mentawai which is located at a distance of 150 km off the coast of the island of Sumatra indeed invites admiration. The archipelago which is part of a series of non-volcanic islands has 157 wave points and 400 surf points. The beautiful beaches consist of Tuapejat, Mapadeggat, Makakang, Katiet, to Bosua. Its stunning islands consist of Siberut, Sipore, North Pagai, and South Pagai. Most of the beaches and islands there are still beautiful.
It is undeniable, surfing is the icon of this place. Mentawai is already known as a location for surfers to try out their abilities. Even international surfing competitions are often held here. You see, the roll of the waves reaches a height of 3 meters! #triplocal

Nyang Nyang Beach
The beach owns the biggest wave in Mentawai, which is perfect for surfers who love a new challenge. This explains why more foreign surfers come to South Siberut as they want to enjoy such daring water sport. Still, the beach offers more than amazing waves!
The beach has a peaceful ambiance which is even better than other beaches in Mentawai. Not many trees grow in that location and the sand is flawless! It feels great walking on the beach and enjoying the zephyr. Even the atmosphere feels so comfortable at noon. For surfers, the waves look both beautiful and challenging. Not to mention the sizes would definitely amuse them. Moreover, the color of the water is quite clear and it feels so warm.

Mentawai Island
The best charm of Mentawai District is definitely its culture. Still, people also recognize it as the best place to find good waves for surfing. No wonder, many options of beaches are available to visit either for such fun water sport or relaxing. The fact is that Mentawai offers more than 400 surfing spots and it has been acknowledged by foreign tourists as well. The only problem is that some people have no idea about the beaches they can visit. Well, it is true that the options are many but only several beaches that have recognized as the best ones.
Mentawai is surrounded by beautiful sea and its amazing waves. This explains why the beaches provide a great environment for surfing. Some of them are even considered extreme, which is suitable for professional surfers. Due to this fact, foreign surfers are also interested in coming to Mentawai and trying to enjoy the challenge. They usually come between April and October during the best waves.

Mapadegat Beach
Mapadegat Beach is considered more festive than its sibling – Jati Beach. The sand is white and the sea looks quite mesmerizing. Even the wind feels so nice and warm. Near to the beach, several coconut trees grow abundantly and some of them are tilted! That means visitors can climb on those trees without difficulties. Today, the local government even provides several facilities near to the beach including inns, souvenir stands, gazebos, and umas (traditional houses). With such benefits, tourists are likely to have a good time there.
The common tourism concept in Mapadegat Beach is called village tourist center. Hopefully, the locals work together with the government to improve both facilities and services in that area. The purpose is to attract more tourists to come to that location and increase the local revenue. As for tourists, they can enjoy good times and do any fun beach activities at the same time especially swimming. The calm waves help them to enjoy swimming safely, for sure. For those who want a more casual activity, they can enjoy either beach walking or sunbathing!

BANYAK ISLANDS
Pulau Banyak in West Sumatra, Indonesia is an ultimate hidden paradise! Tailana Island, Sikandang Island or Asok Island is the perfect place to grab a mask and flippers and admire the rich marine life.
At Sikandang Island you have a chance to spot dolphins, turtles, and whales.
At Rago Rago Island is a possibility to see Sea-cow. Rent a kayak or small fishing boat and explore the nearby Islands or the Island you stay on.
Camping is allowed on most of the Islands. Just ask the local fishermen to drive you there. If you don´t have your own tent, you can rent it for 60k IDR per night. The camping gear is not gonna be waterproof so keep that in your mind. As well as there are mosquitos with (a small) possibility of malaria.
The most recommended Islands for camping are Asok Island and Pandan Island.
Most of the surfing resorts are in Ujung Lolok. But you can get a charter local boat from Balai Island as well. Surfing charter boats will take you than on their secret spots near Tuangku Island and Bangkaru Island.
Pulau Tuangku (Tuangku Island) is the best island for jungle trekking. The starting point is in Haloban, where is easy to find guides with the necessary equipment.
There is a 350m high mountain which takes around 3 hours to climb up and offers a beautiful view. You can visit as well the Crocodile River, caves or waterfalls.
If you have your own fishing gear with you, you can rent a boat without an engine for 150k IDR per day and go fishing as we did!:)
Otherwise, just ask locals to take you with them and you can learn some more traditional ways of fishing. The only Island where you can watch sunrise and sunset is Balai Island.
At Tailana Island is a spectacular place on the beach to watch the sunset, with bending Palm tree in front of you.

FIRST SOLO TRIP TO PADANG INDONESIA 🇮🇩
My first trip to Padang was nothing short of amazing. As I stepped off the plane and into the heart of this enchanting Indonesian city, I was immediately captivated by its vibrant energy. The rich tapestry of culture, the warm smiles of the locals, and the mouthwatering aroma of Indonesian cuisine that filled the air welcomed me with open arms.
Exploring the city's bustling markets and winding streets, I discovered a fusion of tradition and modernity that was both striking and harmonious. The intricate architecture of the mosques and temples stood in contrast to the towering skyscrapers, creating a visual feast for the senses. Each corner I turned seemed to unveil a new facet of Padang's charm, from the lively street art to the tranquil parks that offered respite from the city's vibrant pace.
But it was the natural beauty that truly stole my heart. The pristine beaches, with their golden sands and azure waters, were like slices of paradise. I spent my days sunbathing and watching the mesmerizing sunsets that painted the sky in hues of orange and pink. The lush green landscapes and dense rainforests that surrounded the city were an invitation to adventure. I embarked on hikes to explore hidden waterfalls and swam in the crystal-clear rivers, feeling a profound connection to nature.
The local cuisine was a culinary journey I'll never forget. From the spicy rendang to the delectable nasi padang, my taste buds danced with delight. I found myself sampling dishes from street food stalls to family-run restaurants, savoring the authentic flavors of Padang at every turn.
In the evenings, Padang's vibrant nightlife came alive. The city's bars and clubs offered a perfect blend of entertainment and local hospitality. I made new friends, both fellow travelers and locals, and danced the night away, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
My first solo trip to Padang was an adventure of discovery, where I found a deep connection to the city, its people, and the natural wonders that surrounded it. It was an experience that left an indelible mark on my heart, and I can't wait to return to this incredible place in the future
