Booked a Honda Fit rental in Gila through Trip.com — the entire process was pleasantly straightforward and handled in no time! From booking to pick-up, everything went smoothly, making my journey stress-free and enjoyable 🚗. If you value efficiency and want a hassle-free rental, I highly recommend choosing Trip.com for your next car booking. It definitely made my stop in Gila much more convenient. #realreview

#easytravelpost The Mogollon Rim runs the Apache-Sitgreaves NF at ~7,500 ft, reached via SR 260 to FR 300 (Rim Road). No entrance fee, no permit for dispersed day use; Woods Canyon and Willow Springs lakes have campground fees separately. I drove from Payson at 7 a.m., parked at the Rim Lakes Vista Trailhead (FR 300, half mi from SR 260), and walked the 1 mi paved-overlook section to the unfenced rim drop—300 ft straight down into pine basin. Then I drove 20 min to the Greenlee Lakes edge (small stock-impoundment tarns off FR 579), parked at the unmarked pullout, and bushwalked the mossy rim where the spruce meets the cliff. No trail, no people, thunderheads building by 13:00—I was back at the car by 14:00, which is the rule: Rim lightning is lethal June–Sept, be off the edge by early afternoon. Mistake: I came in a sedan after July rain and FR 300 had a mud section that nearly stuck me—high clearance or wait for dry. Another: I trusted the "Greenlee Lakes" map pin and found a private tank; navigate to FR 579 mile marker 14, walk north 400 m. Would you do the Rim Vista paved walk for the view, or chase the unnamed mossy edges for solitude and risk the monsoon clock?

#arrivalguide The Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument sits 44 miles north of Silver City on NM-15—allow 1h45 because the last 30 miles are paved but switchbacked and RV-unfriendly. Entry is $10/vehicle (Interagency pass accepted, card at the contact station). Trail 153 starts at the lower lot, climbs 1 mile switchbacks to the five caves of the Main Dwellings (Mogollon, ~1300 CE), then continues as the "Cave Trail Loop" another 0.75 mile to TJ Ruins—a smaller balcony tucked under a separate overhang. Round trip 2.5 miles, 600 ft gain, 2h with cave time. Inside the dwellings you walk a constructed catwalk 30 ft above the canyon floor to peer into rooms with original roof beams; touching masonry is prohibited, and a ranger is usually stationed May–Oct. I went mid-June at 9 am and had the TJ Ruins alone for ten minutes. Carry 1.5 L—no water on trail, and the Gila River crossing near the start is ankle-deep after monsoon but dry by late June. Bug repellent is mandatory; gnats swarm the shade. Mistake: I wore canvas sneakers and the catwalk grit chewed my heels—hiking shoes better. No cell signal. The nearby Gila Hot Springs (private, clothing-optional, cash) is the post-hike reward 20 miles back. Discussion: do the 700-year-old cliff rooms feel more sacred as archaeology, or more striking as a wilderness payoff after the drive?

Let’s get real: My latest adventure took me to Wikieup, Arizona (but honestly, I was daydreaming about those Bahamas vibes 🌊🇧🇸). Imagine a ship cutting across crystal-clear water, under a cloud-studded blue sky—straight out of a tropical fantasy! Even out here in Wikieup, you can find pockets of natural beauty that echo the peaceful scenes usually found in Caribbean hotspots. Top Spots to Visit in Wikieup
 1. Wikieup Trading Post (12613 US-93, Wikieup)—Quirky pit stop for local snacks and Route 66 charm. 2. Burro Creek Campground (20 miles south)—Ideal for riverside hiking, tree-spotting, and lazy picnics by the water. Open year-round, sunrise to sunset. 3. Local River Views—Drive west along Highway 93 for serene river vistas surrounded by native trees, especially gorgeous on a sunny day. Travel Tip: Carry a refillable water bottle and snacks; remote areas have limited shops. Capture outdoor scenes when the sun is high—clouds drifting through the sky add major vibe to photos. Channel those Bahamas feels by relaxing by the water’s edge and letting the breeze take over! Getting Around: Wikieup is super tiny—bring a car (rent with trip.com!) to fully explore. Parking is easy and usually free. Food: Most dining is at convenience stops. Pack a picnic for those “outdoor natural scenery” moments! Destination Tips: No visas needed if you’re road-tripping in Arizona. Best visited between October–April for comfy weather and clear skies. #WikieupAdventure #NatureVision #RoadTripUSA
