A starry sky you can enjoy after work from Tokyo [Kozushima]
"I live in Tokyo and want to enjoy nature casually."
We'd like to introduce you to Kozushima, a place that will make that wish come true.
Kozushima may be the only place where you can enjoy the mountains, the sea, and the starry sky all at once, with good access from Tokyo.
[How to get there]
Every night at around 10pm, board the "Sarubia Maru" ferry from Takeshiba Passenger Terminal, which is less than a 10-minute walk from Hamamatsucho, and when you wake up, you'll arrive at Kozushima at around 10am!
That's it.
On the way back, you can also take the "Sarubia Maru" back to Takeshiba Passenger Terminal.
Easy, right? 😃
Tokai Kisen, which operates the ferry, offers discounts on the internet and for early reservations, so you can board with a same-day ticket, but if possible, make a reservation at least two weeks in advance!
[About Kozushima]
Kozushima is one of the islands in the Izu Islands of Tokyo.
Kozushima is the furthest of them all, and the light from the Izu Peninsula and Chiba Prefecture doesn't affect the sky, so you can enjoy a starry sky as long as it's not cloudy.
However, as a town, there are supermarkets and rental cars, so it can be difficult to get around when sightseeing.
In fact, there is even a small pachinko parlor, which is surprising🤯
[Recommended accommodation]
・Hotel Kozukan
Although it is a small, slightly old hotel, there are exciting accessories everywhere that give it an island atmosphere☺️
For dinner, you can enjoy delicious Japanese food, although it is not flashy.
There is also a parking space, so it is easy to go sightseeing by rental car!
[Sights]
・Yotane Square
This is the place to see the stars✨
It is like a large park, so you can enjoy the starry sky at your leisure without crowds!
In fact, it might be a little uneasy in the dark because there are not many people
From the village where the accommodation is located, you will walk on a road with few streetlights, so you will need a flashlight or a smartphone light.
Don't forget to take insect repellent in the summer!
・Tenjo Mountain Trekking
We climbed at a leisurely pace from the trailhead, circled around the peak, and returned to the trailhead, which took 3 and a half hours.
The charm of the mountains of remote islands is the view of the ocean beyond the great outdoors! It's something you don't see very often 🤩
It's quite tiring, and you'll need to bring comfortable sneakers, rain gear, and water, but the path is easy to follow, so if you're in good shape, please give it a try.
・Pachinko parlor
What?! A pachinko parlor? You might be thinking this, but even though I've been to all prefectures and 86 remote islands, I've never seen anything like this type of exterior, which looks like a house.
And the place where you exchange your goods for cash looks like a warehouse in the garden.
In a sense, it's a facility that you can only see on remote islands, so even if you don't actually play, it's interesting to go and see it 😅
・Tako Bay Beach
A powerful beach with a slightly gray sandy beach that stretches out to the horizon.
If it's not summer, you can have the beach all to yourself and relax while watching the ocean.
Enjoy the exclusive beach that only a remote island can offer 😊
An oasis where you can board a boat on Friday night, arrive on Saturday morning, and return home on Sunday.
Please visit Kozushima!
