From Wat P
From Wat Preah Prohm Roth, the driver took us to the handicraft school. The Handicraft School is committed to revitalizing Cambodian traditional culture that was destroyed by the Khmer Rouge and the Year of the War. This school specializes in teaching wood carving and stone carving techniques, traditional silk paintings, lacquer crafts and other techniques to impoverished youth.
The school is located in a deep road, not far from the old market, with signs on Sivatha St. Part of the retailers profits are used to fund schools and allow more young people to join the training program. After arriving at the school, a Chinese-speaking guide was arranged to guide us to visit. It is free to visit here.
There is also a beautiful shop in the school called Artisans d'Angkor, which sells everything from stone statues of Angkor period to imitations of wooden figures to home decoration decorations. As for the last time you dont buy something in the store, its up to you. Its not strong.
The school can visit the craftsmanship process, most of them are young people. Every day, facing the visits of tourists, the young people are used to the crowd. Beautifully crafted Buddha statues are available in a variety of materials. The production process and craftsmanship are different. Some of them are in the form of logs. Some of them need to be plastered, cover the seams, and then color them. The price is high. A favorite friend who buys here can also be regarded as a support for public welfare. In addition, there are also their branches at the airport, and they also have the opportunity to buy when they leave Siem Reap.
