Data shows that this is the first Banyan Tree resort in the country, and it also happens to be the one that least meets my expectations for the brand, being more original and closer to nature than I had imagined. I've been to Shangri-La twice, and indeed, it has its charms. The plains, mountains, and rivers are no longer enough to draw my longing; in the past two years, I've grown fonder of high-altitude destinations. The small bridges and flowing waters, the ancient towns of the south of the Yangtze River, have left me somewhat aesthetically fatigued. To me, such a hidden gem of a place is more enchanting. The ancient resort, Banyan Tree Ringha, is well-known to many seasoned travelers. It's situated in a remote village in Shangri-La. Staying at this resort is not that easy; the road leading here is not good. Among the popular travel destinations in Yunnan, I have a preference for Shangri-La and Tengchong. Here, there is religious belief, local customs, and the mysterious Tibetan culture. It's different from the Banyan Tree resorts in the cities. Here, the transportation information is not readily available. Coming to this village, what you experience is the local village life, a bit of wild luxury, and a sense of seclusion. The village where the hotel is located is very primitive. Once you stay here, you basically won't see many people, only able to converse with the cows, sheep, horses, as if this is the most beautiful village forgotten by people. I remember when I stayed here with a friend, we were both a bit scared at night, even afraid to go to the bathroom without the other's company. We stayed in a two-bedroom Ringha lodge, and because the hotel was fully booked that day, we were upgraded to the largest room, about 330 square meters, with red furniture that actually looked quite scary at night. This is also the most fear-inducing resort I've ever stayed in. During the two nights there, I only liked the daytime, not the nighttime. The room felt very dark overall; once you walked in, you didn't need to distinguish between day and night because even with the lights on, it was still dark. The TV was so primitive that I had never seen such an old model before. The hotel's bed is also one of the most impressively large I've ever seen. The visual aspect in photos might not show it, but it's definitely big enough for 4 adults to sleep on, and the bedding is quite comfortable. However, the oppressive feeling the room gives at night is very strong. Bathing and going to the toilet are both on the first floor. My friend and I could only agree to go to the toilet at the same time, wash our faces and bathe together; one person simply didn't dare to go downstairs alone, the area was too large. There are also two single beds downstairs, and the altitude of the village where the hotel is located is high, around 3400 meters, so going up and down the stairs actually makes your heart beat very fast, and you can feel a bit breathless. My friend said it's good to stay in such a hotel once. Due to the local conditions, there's not much to eat for breakfast. I'm not used to eating barley cakes at all, and the butter tea is barely drinkable. The only thing I could eat was rice noodles. The only thing I remember impressively about this hotel is the barbecue at night, which was really delicious. If you don't order barbecue, I don't know what else to eat here, and it's inconvenient to go out to eat.
