The bridge is a double-tower, double-hinged, single-span suspension bridge. On August 5, 2013, the New Taipei City Government announced that the Bitan Suspension Bridge was a municipal historic site. This 85-year-old suspension bridge has withstood numerous storms and earthquakes, but it still stands firm over the Xindian River. During this period, the cables have been replaced to ensure the safety of the bridge. If you come to Bitan and don’t walk on the suspension bridge, you can’t say you have been to Bitan. The Bitan Scenic Area with its beautiful mountains and rivers was one of the eight sceneries of Taiwan earlier on and was reputed as the “little red cliff” due to its steep cliffs on the west bank. The length between the towers is 200 meters, the bridge is 186.6 meters long, 3.5 meters wide, and 30 meters above sea level. It can carry about 1,000 people. Completed in August 1937, the suspension bridge is now fully used by pedestrians and was announced as a New Taipei City historic site on August 5, 2013.

#Taiwan Seaview Accommodation When we took a taxi at Taipei Main Station and planned to go to a place that the MRT couldn't reach, the taxi driver guessed that we were tourists and suggested that we go to a place in downtown Taipei to see mountains and rivers. After half an hour's ride, the driver said this place was called Bitan and few tourists knew about it. After getting off the train, I was amazed for half a minute, and found that it was not much different from the light rail bridge over the Tuen Mun River. I took the MRT on the way back and got back to Taipei Main Station in less than half an hour. I was cheated for half a day.

On a rainy afternoon, the reflections of the lake in Bitan are picturesque. In the evening, people came in groups of three or four, and the Bitan Bridge in the distance, the houses and the traffic were gradually becoming lively.
