Chengtian Temple Pagoda, located in Chengtian Temple in Xingqing District (Old City), Yinchuan, is commonly known as "West Pagoda" by locals. Chengtian Temple was built in the first year of Chuisheng in Xixia (AD 1050). After the death of Li Yuanhao, the founding emperor of Xixia, his son ascended the throne at a young age. The empress dowager protects his son's "sacred life without borders" and the "eternal solid" of Xixia Jiangshan. , built Chengtian Temple and Chengtian Temple Pagoda. The Chengtian Temple Pagoda is the only ancient pagoda in Ningxia with a documented record of its construction. The gate of Chengtian Temple is opened to the east, which is different from most temples in the Central Plains, which "sit north and face south", which may be related to the worship of the east or the sun by the Xixia people. After entering the gate, there are main buildings such as the Five Buddha Hall, the Buddhist Pagoda, the Weituo Hall, and the Reclining Buddha Hall on the central axis of the east-west direction. The buildings are connected by small doors and walls, and it is a courtyard-style courtyard. , There are very primitive brick-carved hanging flowers on the small door. Today, the Chengtian Temple Pagoda, which is more than 60 meters high, can be climbed in Chengtian Temple. The tower door also faces east. When you enter the square tower room, you will see a wooden staircase spiraling up. On the third, fifth, seventh, and ninth floors, there are door-style bright windows in the north-south direction, and on the fourth and sixth floors. On the eighth and tenth floors, there are multi-door bright windows in the east and west directions, and on the eleventh floor there are round windows with four bright and four dark. Here you can look at the old city of Yinchuan through the bright windows. There are three layers of edge-toothed bricks on the top and bottom of the eaves between each layer of the Chengtian Temple Pagoda, and iron bells are hung on the pomegranate-shaped iron handles at the corners of the eaves of each layer. Around the Chengtian Pagoda, there are six 400-year-old locust trees, which contrast with the exquisite carvings on the wall, and are full of quaint atmosphere. There used to be the Ningxia Museum in the temple, but it has now been moved. If you have more time, take a walk in the temple and listen to the iron bells on the ancient pagoda, and the nostalgic feeling will arise spontaneously.
