Exploring the Spanish Central Plateau ~ Albacete (Region) The replica of the Moorish Well was crafted by stonemason Francisco Carrión in 2018. The original structure is an Iberian tower-shaped funerary monument dating back to the late 6th century BC. It features a square base with a stepped pedestal, two ascending bodies separated by decorative lines, and a pyramid-shaped top. The corners of the monument are adorned with lions carved into corner stones. Additionally, the four sides of the monument are decorated with reliefs depicting various mythological scenes. During archaeological excavations, burial remains were discovered beneath the monument, confirming that the buried individual was a member of royalty. The original monument is currently housed in the National Archaeological Museum.

A Hiking Trip in Spain's Central Highlands ~ Albacete (Region) One of Chinchilla's unique corners is the Diablos y Tiradores Gate, part of the wall surrounding the city of La Mancha. Built between the 14th and 15th centuries, it serves as a gateway to the town walls of Chinchilla de Montearagón. It has the appearance of a fortress, with a semicircular arched entrance with a sloping passage and a stepped ramp. Atop the gate is a large square tower built of brick. During the Carlist Wars of the 19th century, the tower underwent significant modifications, with its structure strengthened and its flaring loopholes opened. The walls of this structure still bear the emblem of the Marquis of Villena. The castle is characterized by its tall, steep walls, featuring six corners with towers built on each. Surrounding the castle is a moat that is 16 meters deep. Remnants of the walls are still visible today, along with the main building of the castle, which was renovated in the 19th century, and the Diablos y Tiradores gate.
