The Dalat train station, built in 1943 in the Art Deco style, is a joint work of French architects and engineers, and is a representative landmark of Dalat that took a total of 6 years from planning to completion.
At that time, a total of 84km of tracks were laid from Dalat to Thap Cham, and about 17km of gear-type tracks were laid to fit the high mountainous areas and steam locomotives.
However, it was seriously damaged by bombing during the Vietnam War, and after a restoration project in 1975, a 7km section of tracks was laid between Dalat and Trai Mat, and since 1991, steam locomotives for tourism have been deployed, operating 5 trains a day.
