Xia Temple, a place no girl can resist
Located in Danma Mountain of Guoji Village in Linzhou County, 80 kilometers from Lhasa, lies a temple with a stupa forest covered in "white snow," resembling an ice palace stretching across the mountain valley. This is Tibet's most beautiful nunnery, Xia Temple in Linzhou County. The full name of Xia Temple is Panyusha Tanang Temple, built during the Yuan Dynasty over 700 years ago, and belongs to the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism.
Today, we are the only two visitors. As we step from the scorching sunlight into the stupa forest, the mountain breeze blows, making the bells on the stupa tips chime crisply, and our hearts become completely peaceful.

Lhasa Outskirts Tour | In Linzhou, I found Lhasa's Monet Garden
I went to Linzhou over the weekend and discovered a super beautiful rapeseed flower field. If you don't come here in person, you would never believe that such poetic pastoral scenery could be found in Tibet. This is the Dalong Temple in Linzhou, Lhasa, a place that even locals are hardly aware of.
▫️
🌸 Around the temple, every June and July, it will be covered by golden rapeseed flowers. Looking around, it's like a colorful oil painting.
▫️
🌸 Compared to those famous internet celebrity check-in spots, this place still maintains a rare tranquility. It's a day trip from Lhasa, and if you happen to have time, why not come here to experience the highland pastoral style?
▫️
📷 Photo tips:
1️⃣ It is recommended to wear clothes in contrasting colors like orange, red, blue, white against the yellow flowers for better photos. Be sure to avoid wearing yellow or similar colors, or you'll end up with just a black head in the photos 😥
2️⃣ You can fly drones over the rapeseed field for even better shots.
3️⃣ There are almost no tourists in the rapeseed field, so you can take photos freely, but do not enter the fields and trample around.
▫️

Xia Monastery in Tibet: A spectacular forest of white stupas! Encountering the simple and honest Tibetan villagers
Xia Monastery is located in Guoji Village, Qiongga Township, Linzhou County, Tibet Autonomous Region, nestled in the Danma Mountain hollow, 25 kilometers from the county seat and 90 kilometers from Lhasa. It is a sacred place for Buddhist pilgrimage in Tibet with a history of over 700 years. There was originally a temple in Guoji Village, and legend has it that three girls came to the temple to worship Buddha. Because there was no place to stay at night, the three girls chanted spells to transform the temple into a nunnery, which is how the temple got its name. Later, to commemorate these three worshippers, three Buddhist stupas were built. Surrounding the three oldest central stupas of Xia Monastery, more than 100 stupas of various sizes have been built over time. The stupas are constructed following the undulating terrain, creating a magnificent sight. The entire stupa forest faces south from the north, and every year in the fourth month of the Tibetan calendar, devotees come to whitewash the stupas. The stupa bodies are decorated with milk, plants, and lime powder, making them pure white, resembling a palace of stupas under a blanket of snow in the mountain hollow.

To watch cranes in Tibet, the best choice is the Hutoushan Reservoir in Linzhou County
On a clear winter morning, overwintering black-necked cranes dance gracefully at the Hutoushan Reservoir in Linzhou County, Lhasa. Linzhou County, in Tibetan, means 'a place naturally formed'. Here, with numerous rivers and reservoirs, it provides good conditions for irrigating farmland and is known as the 'granary' of Lhasa. As Linzhou County is mainly agricultural, large areas of farmland are connected, and the remaining straw after harvest is scattered in the fields, providing a guarantee for the black-necked cranes to find food in winter. The Hutoushan Reservoir, surrounded by mountains on two sides, is sheltered from the wind and faces the sun. The marsh is rich in aquatic plants. This group of birds, known as 'Chongchong' or 'auspicious birds', breed in northern Tibet in spring and migrate south along a fixed route after winter. The Lhasa River Valley and the Nianchu River Basin naturally become the favorite habitats of the black-necked cranes.
