🌸 Cherry walkway to the shrine
In Kamakura you will obviously visit a shrine, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu. Getting there can be by different roads but the best one is walking along Dankazura because it’s decorated with cherry trees from both its sides and leads directly to the main entrance of the shrine. In the evening the walkway is illuminated 😍
📅 When to see in bloom: end of March-April depending on cherry blossom forecast

Kamakura Dankazura: A Perfect Blend of History and Nature.
In Dankazura, Kamakura City, Japan, I enjoyed a leisurely and culturally rich journey. Dankazura is an important road leading to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, lined with cherry blossom trees, offering a charming view. I took ten photos to capture this wonderful experience.
The history of Dankazura dates back to the Kamakura period, where it served as an important ceremonial path. Today, it has become a favorite walking spot for tourists and locals alike. Walking on this ancient road, I felt the weight of history and the beauty of nature.
In spring, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, Dankazura turns into a pink floral path, drawing countless visitors for flower viewing. Even in other seasons, the scenery remains enchanting, with shady green trees and picturesque landscapes. I captured the beauty under the cherry trees, the ancient stone lanterns, and the distant Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, these photos perfectly capturing the charm of Dankazura.
Beyond the natural scenery, there are many historical buildings and cultural sites along Dankazura, each filled with stories and historical significance. This stroll through Dankazura not only allowed me to experience the natural beauty of Kamakura but also made me feel the deep historical and cultural heritage of the place.
I will forever cherish these beautiful memories and look forward to returning to Dankazura in the future to enjoy more of its beautiful landscapes.

📍Dangazura: 2 Chome-1-31 Yukinoshita, Kamakura, Kanagawa 248-8588 Japan
🌸 I'd like to introduce 'Dangazura', a gently sloping walking path lined with cherry blossom trees connected to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, as a travel destination in Kamakura. There are pretty shops on both sides of Dangazura, and there are many wonderful cafes. You can feel the beauty of cherry blossom petals fluttering in the wind. There are many shops with cute signs, so it was a travel destination that was full of photo spots, and it was a place where you could feel the modern and contemporary aspects of Kamakura.
🌟 When you want to take a break while walking Dangazura, you can go into a restaurant or cafe on either side that you like and take a break, and you can enjoy a drink or food while looking at the beautiful natural scenery. If you visit Kamakura, I recommend you definitely visit Dangazura!

[Dankazura/Kanagawa Prefecture] A 600m long cherry blossom tunnel
Dankazu, the approach to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture
𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃
Dankazu was built in 1182.
The second torii gate is a short walk from Kamakura Station.
The 588m approach from there to the third torii gate is called Dankazu.
It is said to have been built by Minamoto no Yoritomo as a prayer for the safe delivery of his wife, Masako. (There are various theories.)
It is said that there are about 180 cherry trees, planted on both sides of the approach, making it a veritable tunnel of cherry blossoms.
It is so beautiful that you will want to go back and forth many times.
The evening lighting is also wonderful.
What I personally found to be the most beautiful was the view of the shrine building through the cherry blossoms just before leaving the approach to the shrine, and the view of Dankuzura from the top of the stone steps of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
Simply stunning! That's all I can say!

[Kanagawa Prefecture/Dankazu] Approach to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine
Dankatsu was built in 1182.
As soon as you get off at Kamakura Station, you'll find a stepped road running parallel to Wakamiya-oji Street in the middle. It's called Dankatsu and serves as the approach to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
Currently, it stretches from the second torii gate to the third torii gate, a distance of 588m.
The first torii gate is further ahead, and was originally about 1.3km from there.
It's said that Dankatsu was built as a prayer for the safe delivery of Minamoto no Yoritomo's wife, Masako, but there are actually various theories about its origin.
Near the second torii gate is a very large lion-dog statue. It's quite impressive!
You'll probably want to walk through Komachi-dori Street, but when you visit the shrine, it's also nice to walk through Dankatsu and feel the sacredness of the place.
