Passau | The more I travel, the more beautiful the world becomes
Five years ago, I came to Germany and visited several major cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, and Stuttgart. Gradually, it seems that I crave the quiet and beautiful life of a small town.
This time I came to Passau in Bavaria, Germany✨
Strolling through this small city where three rivers converge is just too delightful.
A true 'Bavarian Venice,' ancient and tranquil.
1️⃣ Pick a café on the street side for a drink (Anton recommended).
2️⃣ The old town is great for a walk, with many special shops (Bear&friends for candy souvenirs, designer clothing boutiques, and an ancient bookstore Bücher Pustet Passau; Cantina's curry sausage is also a good choice for lunch).
3️⃣ The corner where the three rivers meet (more visible on cloudy days) is perfect for a stroll. There are wooden benches along the way, and you can sit here with a cup of coffee for the whole day.
4️⃣ The Hotel Wilder Mann next to the town hall is where Princess Sisi spent her last night before getting married (now it's a living embodiment of a travel/beauty/art blogger), and it's still open to the public.
From the fifth floor to the first, there's a glass museum that collects Bohemian glass crafts from the 1700s to the 1950s (allocate more than 1h, 8 euros per person).
5️⃣ Inside St. Stephen's Cathedral, there's the world's largest pipe organ, with a magnificent sound, and spectacular frescoes.
6️⃣ On top of Hachelberg, there's the 13th-century Veste Oberhaus castle, accessible by shuttle (5 euros one way, every 15 minutes, last one down at 17:00 to the town hall). It's recommended to climb up (steep but not too steep).
I also met a guy who cycled from France to Passau, and he said it took him a month to get here. Indeed, everyone has their own wonderful life✨
Lucky to arrive on a free admission day at the museum, after visiting the exhibition, you can also climb up the castle's lookout tower to overlook the old town, another high spot for shooting the confluence of the three rivers.
