Kangyur Temple, also known as Shouning Temple, is a large Lama temple in Hulunbuir. It was approved by the emperor in the 36th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1771) and the Qing court allocated money to build the temple. Construction began in the 38th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1773). The temple mainly houses statues of Sakyamuni, Guanbu, and Zamusulun. Because Shouning Temple once collected the Tibetan-Mongolian version of the Kangyur Sutra, it was also named "Kangyur Temple". The temple's architectural style integrates the three styles of the Central Plains, Mongolia, and Xizang, reflecting the ingenious combination of the three cultures. There are 11 temples, 4 temple warehouses, and more than 100 monasteries built in front and behind the temple, with a total construction area of more than 10,000 square meters. The current Kangyur Temple was rebuilt on the original site in 2001. The main temple, Suo Keqin Temple, has 46 pillars with golden dragons engraved on the pillars. There is a high-eaved building in front, and a copper-plated gold-plated prayer wheel symbolizing Buddhism on the top. The prayer wheel is inlaid with corals and jadeite, which is full of jewels.
