I visited Gilsangsa in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul~🏔 Although it is located in the city center, it is a place with such beautiful harmony with nature because it is at the end of Bukaksan Mountain. The reason I am introducing this temple among many temples is because of the story of the monk Beopjeong and the gisaeng.❤ This place was originally famous as one of the three great fairies in Seoul, but the owner donated this land after discussing it with the monk Beopjeong. Maybe that's why the scenery of the temple feels a little different from the typical orthodox temple, but it actually felt comfortable to calm my mind!
The Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva statue on one side of Gilsang-a reminded me of the Virgin Mary, but I found out that the monk Beopjeong commissioned a Catholic sculptor to create it with the wish for harmony between religions👍👍, what a beautiful story! In front of Daeungjeon, there are azaleas in full bloom, and if you go in season, you will be able to feel the beauty! If you want to take a break from your trip to Seoul, I recommend Gilsangsa. 😏
If you walk down from Gilsangsa, you will come across a wealthy village, and if you go down a little further, there is a noodle alley, so it looks like a good place to have a meal. 🍲
