A short walk along the fortress wall The view is good even if you go up a little from Hwahongmun to Janganmun. Don't push yourself too hard, it's OK to just walk a little and come back down. 3. Suwon Hwaseong Haenggung + Haenggung-dong Mural Village It's a temporary palace from the Joseon Dynasty, but the interior is well decorated and there's a lot to see. There's a mural village right next to it, and the alleys are really pretty and emotional. You can get a great shot. 4. Haenggung-dong Cafe Street It's near the mural village, so it's good to go right away. There are many cafes with great atmosphere, so you can choose one. 5. Night walk along Suwoncheon It’s close to the cafe street, so you can just walk leisurely. The atmosphere is so good when the lights come on, so it’s perfect for a final walk.

This floodgate is a part of the Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site which located in Suwon, South Korea. Hwahongmun literally means ‘beautiful rainbow-colored gate’ which consists of seven arched watergates in various sizes. Hwahongmun played a role of a bridge, connecting villages from the either side of the river. A bower on the river was used as a resting area for the people and facilities were equipped with canons to protect the fortress. This floodgate recently gained more popularity due to its connection with a hype Korean drama titled ‘Lovely Runner’. Many fans of this drama visit Hwahongmun to stroll around and take photos even recreate the drama scene which was recorded there. This floodgate is indeed picturesque, do visit on a day with good weather. It's a really good place to stop by after a walk because it's near the fire station. ☕️ The drinks are delicious and they have a lot of bakery items such as Malenka and pies. 🍰🥐The emotional interior stands out and it's a kid-friendly and pet-friendly place, so it's great for people of all ages to visit! 🤗🌸 Cafe Hwahong, famous as the filming location for the drama That Year, is the best. 👍

#seoultrip This was my favorite part of the entire fortress wall, although to really see it properly, you're going to want to see it from atop the wall, outside the wall, and inside the wall. Inside the wall there is a stream which provides fantastic photo opportunities with the reflections in the water. It looks really impressive from the inside. From the outside it looks so unassuming compared to the inside, but it's still really cool. On top you have views of gates/towers on either side. Definitely check out this section of the wall, it is pretty awesome. To the southwest you can find most of the more iconic sites, while as you head to the northeast the sites will get less and less impressive. But this place was the pinnacle of the Hwaseong Fortress for me
