We did a one-day road trip to Jebel Jais, a mountain of the North-Western Hajar range in Ras Al Khaimah, 1 of 7 emirates in the UAE. During the Ramadan period, roads to the highest accessible point by car were closed so we could only venture a little beyond 1235 metres above sea level. Still, the moon-like desert-scapes and the barren rocky wadis were nothing short of spectacular, and there were barely any humans around, allowing us to enjoy the surrounding serenity to the fullest! 🤩 If time were on my side, I would definitely have attempted the Ghaf Summit Trail to the highest public point in the UAE, 1,934 meters above sea level 🥲 I guess that’s one of several reasons I have for heading back to this lovely country! 😍

After our thrilling desert safari in Dubai, we set off for Ras Al Khaimah, driving about an hour from RAK city centre to Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in the UAE. At 1911 meters, the view from the top was absolutely breathtaking. A unique feature of Jebel Jais is the D.Rakbank ATM machine, which claims to be the highest ATM in the UAE—definitely a fun photo opportunity! Along the way, we passed by a lot of campers, enjoying the fresh air and stunning scenery. There are public toilets available along the route, making it a comfortable drive up to the peak.
