#KIM'S YOUTH HOSTEL Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Just to head towards the sunlit Meili Snow Mountain! Meili Snow Mountain 5 days and 4 nights guide.
"You can't always just look at Meili Snow Mountain on your phone."
Because of this sentence, I chose to fly to Yunnan and head straight to Meili Snow Mountain.
When the sunlight shines on the mountains, all the efforts are worth it.
I also had the luck to witness the sunlit Meili Snow Mountain!

⛺【Must-visit attractions】:
1. Dukezong Ancient Town
It is recommended to visit the Big Buddha Temple at the top of Turtle Hill Park, which has a very large prayer wheel that you can turn three times clockwise to pray;
There are many snacks in the ancient town, but this shop is highly recommended: ☕️ Snow Mountain Little Kitchen Dormito Cafe
A very beautiful shop~ It has coffee, desserts, and meals, with good value for money!
This shop is renovated from a Tibetan-style residence, retaining most of the traditional Tibetan architecture, a very charming old house.
Also, the afternoon tea at Diqing Moonlight City Indigo Hotel, where you can enjoy desserts while overlooking Dukezong Ancient Town, is very pleasant~
2. Wunongding Viewing Platform
Facing Meili Snow Mountain Kawagebo, you can ask the hotel staff about the time of the sunlit Meili Snow Mountain.
There is a tree at Wunongding, a very niche but very photogenic spot!!
3. Napa Lake
The sky is so blue, the clouds are so white, it looks like a world in a comic, every shot is beautiful~
4. Yubeng Scenic Area - Sacred Waterfall
Hiking to the Sacred Waterfall is really enjoyable! It feels so good to walk into nature, although the road to Yubeng is a bit difficult, the scenery is really pure!!!
Along the way, there are prayer flags and mani stones, full of blessings.
With a guide leading the way, it takes about 5.6 hours to walk slowly, remember to bring some food with you and drink less water!
The Ice Lake is more difficult to walk, so follow your physical strength and the guide's advice~

Review of the two guesthouses I stayed at in Upper and Lower Yubeng
🔼Upper Yubeng Shanyu Guesthouse (Photos 2~10)
A very new guesthouse, located at a higher position. The interior is spacious and bright, very clean, with large glass windows offering great views. Pulling back the curtains reveals an unobstructed view of the snow-capped mountains. On a winter morning, watching the sunlit golden mountains from the room is truly comfortable.
The bathroom is divided into three separate areas, and the toiletries are also quite good. My favorite feature is the guesthouse's own heating system, which starts every evening at 6 o'clock. Although it doesn't get overly warm, it's enough to not feel cold.
The lobby on the first floor is very spacious, with ethnic costumes available for borrowing, a supermarket, and also a restaurant where you can have a full meal. Breakfast includes rice noodles and some self-service snacks, which taste very average. You can go to the opposite Chuanwei Food Tribe, which opens very early.
🙅If I had to point out a downside, it would be the steep slope in front of the door. After climbing the mountain all day, the last stretch of road is really the last straw, too hard . However, the guesthouse offers foot soaking, which is quite comfortable.
🚪: 98 guest rooms
💰: 510+ There are also cheaper bunk beds
🔽Lower Yubeng Muchen Mountain House (Photos 11~17)
Located further inside the lower village of Yubeng, it has a very artistic log style. The owners seem to be a couple, very enthusiastic, and you can borrow trekking poles for free. There's a small courtyard with many cats running around.
The guesthouse faces the snow mountains, but unfortunately, the view is somewhat obstructed by other guesthouses in front 🤷♀️. The rooms are very spacious and the bathrooms are clean.
You can have breakfast, and the presentation looks quite nice, but due to an early start for hiking, I didn't have the chance to eat.
🙅I wouldn't recommend staying here in winter, although it might be a comfortable guesthouse in other seasons. There is underfloor heating, but it requires inserting a power card to operate, and it heats up very slowly. After returning from trekking, turning on the underfloor heating, it doesn't warm up all night, too cold to dare to take a shower. There's a gap under the door, and the room is even colder the next morning than it was at night... The value for money is too low.
🚪: 20 guest rooms
💰: 610+
The last photo was taken from the rooftop terrace of the Yubeng Holiday Hotel, with a nice view.
