|Amman, a Walk Through Time Amman, a Middle Eastern city that blends the ancient and the modern, is like an open history book, with stories written on every page. 📍 Citadel Hill: The Beginning of History My first stop in Amman was Citadel Hill. This is the highest point in Amman, and from the top of the hill, you can see the entire city. The ancient Roman theater ruins stand quietly, and although they have been weathered by time, you can still see the grandeur of the past. Touching those ancient stones, it seems as if you can hear the cheers and applause from thousands of years ago. Inside the citadel, there are also the ruins of a Byzantine church, with exquisite mosaic puzzles telling the story of the past prosperity, and the weight of history is overwhelming. 🍲 Food in the City: A Feast for the Taste Buds After coming down from Citadel Hill, my stomach was already growling, so I went to the city to taste the local cuisine. I walked into a small restaurant and ordered a traditional mansaf, with tender lamb and rich yogurt sauce, served on fluffy rice and sprinkled with crispy fried nuts. The perfect blend of meat, milk, and rice instantly conquered my taste buds. There are also shawarma stalls everywhere, with chicken or beef rotating on the grill, the aroma wafting through the air, sandwiched in bread with vegetables and sauces, and eaten on the go, super satisfying! 🎨 Rainbow Street: An Artistic Palette After eating and drinking, I strolled along Rainbow Street. This is the most artistic place in Amman, with colorful buildings on both sides of the street, full of artistic atmosphere. There are a variety of specialty shops, selling exquisite handicrafts and creative galleries. I found a hand-woven carpet in a small shop, with unique patterns and delicate textures that I couldn't put down. The aroma of coffee wafted from the cafes on the street, and I found a window seat to sit down, watching the people coming and going outside the window, feeling the leisure and comfort of the city. 🏛️ Jerash: A Journey Through Time On my last day in Amman, I went to Jerash. This well-preserved Roman city is like a living fossil of history. The wide Roman avenue, the magnificent Hadrian's Arch, the spectacular open-air theater... every ruin is breathtaking. Walking through the streets of the ancient city, it was as if I had traveled back to the Roman era, imagining the bustling scene of the past. Amman is a city with both the sediment of ancient civilization and the vitality of a modern metropolis. Here, you can touch the traces of history and enjoy the convenience of modern life. 🇯🇴The capital "Amman" is a hilly area located between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley. It is spread over 19 hills and is a city with unique and charming old and new styles. It is not only the modern capital of the Hashemite Kingdom, but also the ancient capital, and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world (evidence can be traced back to the humanoid statue Anghazal unearthed in the 8th century BC). Because of the white stone houses that are scattered and lined up in rows, the city is called the "White City". King Abdullah Mosque The first stop is to visit the King Abdullah I Mosque, which was built by the late King Hussein in memory of his grandfather. It is also the only mosque open to non-Muslim tourists. Visitors can be provided with a hooded black robe for free to enter the mosque. Jordan Museum The second stop is the Jordan Museum, located in the vibrant new city center of Ras al-Ain. It displays artifacts from Jordanian history and prehistoric archaeological sites in a series of beautifully designed galleries. One of the exhibition halls introduces the story of "Zheng He's Voyages to the West." Amman Citadel The third stop is Amman’s commanding height, the “Citadel Hill”. Passing through the bustling, shop-lined, crowded and noisy century-old city, we will stop by Rainbow Street, one of the oldest streets in Amman. The driver said that it is best to take pictures here when the lights come on, and there are basically cafes, restaurants and art shops here. "Castle Hill" has famous historical sites from various historical periods. Several large stone tablets at the entrance clearly record the history of Amman Castle Hill. Around the Castle Hill are square or spherical watchtowers built with large stones. The entire Castle Hill wall is about 1,500 meters long. The most famous building on Castle Hill is the Temple of Hercules built between 161 and 166 AD. Another important relic is the 1,300-year-old Umayyad Palace, an architectural relic from the Islamic period. The dome of its hall is particularly spectacular, and the walls are engraved with Arabic patterns. The last one is the remains of the "Byzantine Church" built in 550 AD, of which only a stone wall and a few short stone pillars remain. Roman Amphitheater Located at the foot of Castle Hill, the "Ancient Roman Theater" is deeply rooted in my heart. It is like a half sphere embedded in the city. Various concerts are still held here.
