Flowing Echo Reservoir: A Natural Hidden Gem Known as the Sky Mirror
Located in the northeastern New Territories within the Pat Sin Leng Country Park, the Flowing Echo Reservoir was built in 1968. It is a tranquil destination perfect for families and nature enthusiasts to visit ⛱️. Renowned as the "Sky Mirror," the reservoir's calm surface reflects the blue sky, white clouds, and melaleuca trees, creating a picturesque scene 🎨. (Unfortunately, the water was murky during our visit, so we couldn't see the Sky Mirror ☹️.)
✅ Natural Beauty and Ecological Experience
The reservoir is surrounded by bald cypress and melaleuca trees. In autumn and winter, the orange and yellow hues of the bald cypress leaves create stunning reflections in the water, making it a popular photo spot 😆. The area is rich in biodiversity, attracting dragonflies and butterflies 🦋. A new species of damselfly, the red-spotted damselfly, was even discovered here! With well-equipped barbecue and picnic areas, children can play on the grass while families enjoy a relaxing day in nature 🥰.
✅ Convenient Environment and Accessibility
The Flowing Echo Trail is 4.4 kilometers long and takes about 2 hours to complete. The path is relatively flat, making it suitable for beginners and children 👍🏻. The environment is serene, though it can get crowded on holidays, so visiting on weekdays is recommended. Take minibus 52B from Fanling MTR Station to Lau Shui Heung Road, then walk for 30 minutes to reach the reservoir 🚶🏻♂️.
This is an ideal beginner-friendly route for spending time outdoors with family and friends during the Dragon Boat Festival 👍🏻.

**Itinerary Sharing**
This time, the Liushuixiang outing starts from Fanling Station and takes a bus to the outing entrance. Walking along the trail, you will see dense trees and fresh air, which is refreshing. The most surprising thing is that the gurgling stream has formed many small natural pools, which are very suitable for soaking your feet and enjoying the coolness of nature.
As we walked deeper, we found several beautiful waterfalls. The water rushes against the rocks, making a clear sound, which is the origin of the name "Flowing Water Sound". Sitting on a big rock and listening to the sound of flowing water, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, can relax your body and mind.
