Celebrating Puffy and Shisa's 4th Birthday at a Thai Restaurant in Sheung Wan
August 24th is Puffy and Shisa's birthday, so tonight, I went to an authentic Thai restaurant in Sheung Wan to celebrate. It turns out Puffy and Shisa were both born on the same day, month, and year in 2021! What a coincidence!
Thai Charcoal-Grilled Pork Skewers (4 skewers)
The charcoal-grilled pork skewers were a pleasant surprise, featuring a balance of fat and lean meat, with a bouncy texture. The charred aroma from the grill was even more delicious with satay sauce.
Vietnamese Lemongrass and Scallion Pork Chop Omelette Rice
The large lemongrass-marinated pork chop is quite good, and paired with plenty of scallion oil and a sunny-side-up egg, it's a basic Vietnamese pork chop omelette rice dish.
Fried Chicken Thigh with Thai Tom Yum Goong Vermicelli
The restaurant's most popular dish is the giant fried chicken thigh! The skin is fried to a golden crisp, yet the chicken remains tender and smooth, making it larger than usual. The Thai Tom Yum Goong broth is also incredibly rich, featuring lemongrass, galangal, and lime leaves. The rich, layered Thai spices create a vibrant, spicy flavor that's incredibly appetizing. Using Thai gin rimmed noodles will enhance the spicy tom yum flavor, making this a highly recommended dish.
Lime Soda and Thai Milk Tea
Lime soda is a perfect summer refreshment, perfect for counteracting the greasiness of the fried chicken thigh.
Thai milk tea is a classic, with a rich tea flavor, a smooth milky texture, and just the right amount of sweetness. For a sweeter option, use less ice.
