Savoring Sustainability: My Cozy Escape to Monki Cafe
#earthdayjourney #foodjourney #localfood
During my recent visit to Monki Cafe at The Star Vista, I was delighted to find that this charming Taiwanese eatery offers more than just comforting bowls of lu rou fan and refreshing snowflake desserts. The cafe's commitment to sustainability is evident in its practices, such as serving beverages without plastic straws and offering discounts to students who bring their own reusable containers.
The warm ambiance, complete with yellow furniture and cute decor, creates a welcoming environment that encourages diners to relax and enjoy their meals mindfully. It's heartening to see how Monki Cafe blends delicious Taiwanese flavors with eco-conscious choices, making it a delightful destination for both the palate and the planet.

Monki Cafe has always been our places to go if we crave for Taiwanese food. The cafe used to be in the HDB block but has moved to Star Vista. I like the shop front and layout in the current place better as it is more spacious and brighter with better layout. I highly recommend to get their signature oyster 🦪 and pig intestines Mee sis. It’s smooth, and doesn’t have a strong porky taste. The‘cold noodle’ is a latest addition to their menu and it’s perfect for any sesame sauce lover.

🇸🇬Monki Cafe - An authentic Taiwanese restaurant

We always like to go to Monki to satisfy our cravings for Taiwanese food. We were transported to Taiwan Upon stepping in and greeted by the fried sky Taiwanese owner. Monki serves a list of typical Taiwanese dishes including Lu Rou Fan, Oyster Mee sua, omelette pancake and more! We ordered a Lu Rou Fan and the portion was huge ! The bed of white rice was covered generous amount of braised minced meat and a braised egg. The side of picked vegetable helps to cut down the greasiness.

Have been patronising Monki Taiwan when they had a store in Holland Village until they are moved to the current store in Star Vista. Love this new store as it’s more spacious, more seatings and it seems like they have also changed their menu a little. Food never disappoints, really hou jiak, it was served fast provides that it wasn’t crowded at that point of time.
