York is a beautiful city 🇬🇧
#uktrip
Exploring York was a highlight of my trip! 🌆 The city’s rich history and charming streets made for a perfect day out. I started at the York Minster, an awe-inspiring cathedral with a modest entrance fee of around £12. The stained glass windows and Gothic architecture were breathtaking 🏰. Strolling along the Shambles, I found it to be one of the most picturesque streets in the UK, with its medieval buildings and quirky shops 🛍️.
Next, I visited the National Railway Museum, which was free and packed with fascinating exhibits about the history of trains 🚂. For a touch of local culture, I wandered through the York Museum Gardens, a lovely spot to relax and enjoy some greenery 🌿. Don’t miss the chance to walk along the city walls for stunning views of York and its surroundings.

York Museum Gardens
The York Museum Gardens is a beautiful and peaceful place to walk through and spend some time with history. Though often missed by tourists as it is not the main attraction of York, it is still nice to take some time to explore the gardens. It is located near the train station and the York Cathedral. The gardens are well maintained with so much history that has been kept. There are lots of vibrant flowers, plants and ruins to admire throughout the walk. As it was a Sunday when I visited, there were many families having picnics and little children on their scooters. There is also a large museum on the grounds which unfortunately I didn’t have time to check out but if there’s a next time I hope to visit it.

York , England 🏴🏴🏴
York, a historic city in northern England, is a captivating blend of medieval charm and rich cultural heritage. Founded by the Romans in 71 AD as Eboracum, York has been a significant settlement throughout British history. Its well-preserved city walls, cobbled streets, and ancient buildings transport visitors back in time. The most iconic landmark is York Minster, one of the largest and most stunning Gothic cathedrals in Europe, known for its intricate stained glass windows and towering spires.
The city’s history as a Viking stronghold is evident in the Jorvik Viking Centre, where visitors can experience the sights, sounds, and smells of Viking-age York through interactive exhibits. The Shambles, a narrow, medieval street lined with timber-framed buildings, adds to York’s atmospheric, old-world feel.
Beyond its history, York is known for its lively cultural scene, with museums, galleries, and annual events like the York Festival and the medieval-inspired York Mystery Plays. The city also offers picturesque green spaces, including the scenic Rowntree Park and the Museum Gardens, perfect for leisurely strolls.
York’s blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty makes it one of England’s most enchanting cities, offering something for history enthusiasts, culture lovers, and casual visitors alike.

It’s home to a wide variety of plants, birds, and even some historical remnants, such as the Roman Multangular Tower and the Yorkshire Museum. A walk through these gardens is the ideal way to escape the city bustle and soak up some natural beauty.
