Q: Is one day enough for Mount Siguniang? A: Definitely not! If you're not in great physical shape or prefer a more relaxed trip, just visiting Shuangqiao Valley is sufficient. But if you're confident in your stamina, plan for two days to explore Changping Valley as well. Q: Where’s the best place to stay? A: Most visitors only go to Shuangqiao Valley since it’s *much* easier than Changping Valley. However, I highly recommend staying at a scenic homestay at the foot of Changping Valley. Why? Because Shuangqiao Valley offers no view of Mount Siguniang itself. Staying near Changping Valley gives you two golden opportunities—sunrise and sunset—to photograph the "Golden Mountain" effect (see reference photos). The experience is incomparable. Many regret missing this chance by not considering it. And no, Maobiliang viewpoint is too far for decent phone photography. Q: Is Shuangqiao Valley for bus tours or hiking? A: Changping Valley is brutal—almost entirely on foot. For Shuangqiao Valley, take the shuttle to the end, then choose: ride back to the second stop or hike the 5.5km return. Though challenging, I recommend hiking for three reasons: 1) The air is freshest here, 2) The views are unmatched (later sections pale in comparison), and 3) You’ll pass key photo spots (Figs. 8-11). Skipping the hike means tedious backtracking. Afterward, try the Nianyuba rafting—skip other hikes. Total visit time: ~6-7 hours (enter by 10 AM, finish by 3-4 PM). Q: Are there food options? A: "Options" exist, but barely. Pack your own meals, especially if hiking—I had to beg snacks from kind strangers mid-trail (thank you, kind souls!). Pro tip: Skip the roadside boiled yak meat and sausages—they’re *meh*. Instead, stock up on local apples (I shipped home 5 boxes!) or other fruits. There is a corner to sit and sip a drink and enjoy the beautiful view. There are plenty of photo spots. Anyone who comes to visit must not forget to stop by. The shop is on top of the building. The shop is very beautiful. The day we went was 13/04/2025. To travel to Si Daruni, we rented a car with a driver from the Chengdu Check-in page. Let me tell you that the service is good, safe, and most importantly, the price is not expensive. We went for 3 days and 2 nights, starting from Si Daruni - Bi Peng Gou - Dagu Glacier. Things to know - Park entrance fee + bus in the park is about 688 baht per person, depending on the time of travel. - Take a car in the park for about 45 minutes. - Si Daruni Mountain takes about 4-5 hours from Chengdu. It’s cold in the morning but in the afternoon the sun warms you up. Wear a light jacket and you’ll save yourself from carrying a heavy jacket all around. Didi did not work for me at all in Changpingcun area, have your hotel call a taxi for you. It was about 15-20 Yuan per person to Shuangqiaogou entrance. I suggest you add the drivers WeChat for direct contact on your way back. Here’s your chance to buy your food, water and oxygen can (about 20yuan) before you get price gouged up top!! I arrived to Shuangqiaogou by 10:40 and bought tickets in person through the window. I did not purchase my tickets online at all. Once I gave my passport and 150 yuan a ticket is printed and it’s time to go. There isn’t much to say as they do understand basic English. Once you enter the turnstiles, board their green shuttle bus and hold on tightly as it’s an approx. 40 minutes ride up. I don’t recommend standing, so if there aren’t any seats, wait for the next bus as there are always buses at the bottom. The ride involves a bunch of turns and if you get motion sickness, plastic bags are provided on the top handrails for that reason. At the top drop off peak area, you can buy food, water and whatever else you didn’t buy before. Take your photos of the mountain and make your way around back on a bus to each stop. There were moments where the altitude sickness kicks in if you were already experiencing it, you’re probably going to continue that feeling unless you stop, take some oxygen and just rest a bit. Each stop involves you getting off as the bus queues to leave again. There is a drop off point for the bus and a pick up point. So you can’t just sit inside the bus and expect to ride directly down. ( only exception was near the water rafting portion as our bus did stop, we didn’t need to get off and kept riding back down ) Each stop has a bathroom and a vending machine for you to use. If you haven’t used a squatting bathroom before, I suggest you get used to it, the standard toilet were out of service all the way from the top dow. I arrived at 10:40am, left the area at 2:30pm (about 4 hours). I thought it would take me longer but I didn’t hike. I just went with the flow and took my time at most of the drop off points. Waiting for the shuttle bus was very minimal. The top portion of the mountain had residual snow on the ground and that was it. Afterwards I went back to the hotel and there is nothing to do but wait for the next day back to Chengdu.
