[2025 Nara Hotels] Travel Guide for Nara Visitor Center and Inn (Updated Jul)

Kyoto and Osaka are places full of kimono rental. But I have a small hint for you if you don’t want to get exhausted under the sun walking in kimono all the day. If you are travelling to Nara (which is a must do because of the deers 🦌), you can try on a kimono or some cosplay clothes for absolutely free! You just need to go to the Nara visitors Center and ask about it. Free pictures are included 😉 By the way, this tourists center has many other Japanese culture activities such as calligraphy, origami and so on. #5月好去处2025 #奈良住宿 Nara Prefecture Visitor Exchange Center & Accommodation Center Nara Visitor Center and Inn Living directly upstairs at the Visitor Center, what a special experience! And it's surprisingly cheap, but it's super popular and hard to book! The Nara Visitor Exchange Center is located on the bank of Sarusawa Pond, surrounded by deer, and very spiritual. I never thought that you could stay upstairs at the Visitor Center. This is too much like the Taiwan Youth Activity Center. I immediately experienced it for one night. There are Japanese and Western room types. I booked a Japanese tatami room. The balcony directly faces Sarusawa Pond, the five-story pagoda, and the Wakakusa Mountain in the distance. There are deer living outside, and they are big deer with long horns! The scenery is superb, beautiful like a painting, but it's a pity that the five-story pagoda is under renovation and is tightly wrapped, otherwise it would be more beautiful. (I heard that the repairs will be completed next year) The tourist center has very few rooms, especially the Japanese-style rooms facing the lake, which should be less than ten. I was lucky to get the largest room with five tatami mats. Even if I check in on Saturday, it only costs NT. 1,653, which is incredibly cheap! After all, it is a county tourist center. Not only is there a wealth of tourist information, but there are also many public spaces. There is a kitchen and rest area on each floor, and there is also a large bath for bathing. The deer in Nara are really polite and will salute all the time. It's really cute to feed them senbei.

This is a very friendly hotel located next to Sarusawa Pond, and is within walking distance of famous attractions such as Todaiji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and Nara Park. Not only are the rooms very spacious, the public baths and public kitchens are free to use, and the hotel staff are very friendly and thoughtful. I have visited three times. Although it is a little far from JR Nara Station, the surrounding facilities are very convenient, and I don’t have to worry about being hungry at night.
