Tian Tan Buddha or Big Buddha, the largest seated bronze Buddha statue in Hong Kong, is located in Ngong Ping Village.
The place to pray is in the circular square in front of the Big Buddha. The center is the smallest circle.
There are both bus and Ngong Ping cable car routes. There are regular cable cars, crystal cable cars, and crystal plus cable cars.
In addition to praying and asking for blessings, you can also walk around Ngong Ping Village.

The Big Buddha of Hong Kong: Serenity Above the Clouds
The Big Buddha on Lantau Island rose before me, serene and powerful, seated high above the lush mountains. Climbing the long staircase toward its presence, I felt both humbled and uplifted, each step drawing me closer to an aura of peace that seemed to radiate across the landscape. The bronze statue, immense yet tranquil, gazed over the island and the sea, a guardian of wisdom and harmony. Surrounded by temples, incense, and chanting prayers, the Big Buddha was more than a sight—it was an encounter with stillness, faith, and the timeless spirit of Hong Kong.

HONK KONG WITH CHILD IN FEBRUARY
It was one of the most magnificent trips of all time. Hong Kong is super colorful in winter. A lot of entertainment. The weather is changing and today it's comfortable to arrange trekking, and tomorrow to swim in the sea. You will cry at the final Disneyland show. The cherry on the cake will be a walk on the yacht on the last day of your stay! My best trip !

A must do in Hong Kong - Ngong Ping 360 !!
Ngong Ping 360 is an absolute must-do when visiting Hong Kong!
I highly recommend choosing the Crystal+ cabin, as the glass floors and walls make the ride far more immersive, and it also helps you skip about an hour of waiting in line.
Once you arrive, you’ll find a charming little village with plenty of souvenir shops and even photo opportunities.
Of course, the iconic Big Buddha is a must-see while you’re there.
Afterwards, I suggest taking bus 21 to Tai O, where you can enjoy beautiful sea views and take a boat trip in search of pink dolphins, although I wasn’t lucky enough to spot any during my visit.

Worship the Big Buddha on Lantau + Crystal Cabin Cable Car
If you come to Hong Kong and want both tranquility and spectacular views, you must not miss worshiping the Tian Tan Buddha on Lantau Island! Start by riding the Ngong Ping 360 cable car in the Crystal Cabin with a transparent glass floor, allowing you to see through to the sea, mountains, and Hong Kong airport from above — every minute is a definite “wow” moment 🚡🌤
When you reach the top, you will find Ngong Ping Village filled with the essence of Chinese culture. Walk a little further to the 268-step staircase to ascend and pay respects to the massive 34-meter tall Big Buddha on Lantau, surrounded by natural scenery, a peaceful atmosphere, and genuine spiritual fulfillment.
Along the way, we recommend stopping to try local snacks and take panoramic photos with beautiful views that don’t need any filters.

Experiencing Summer at Ngong Ping, Hong Kong
Been in Hong Kong from 4 July to 8 July 2025. The weather is hot and humid. There is no wind at most of the places. There is no rain and the temperature reach 34 degrees celcius during noon. It is hard to walk, and I suggest you to wear light and comfortable wear during summer.
Ticket Attractions & Getting There :
I bought the ticket attractions through Trip.com. It is cheaper and super fast to get the QR code. You can buy the ticket a day before your trip to Ngong Ping. Please note that the ticket is only for cable car. There is no entrance ticket if you want to see the Big Buddha. And the best part is, everyone can enter, either you a Buddhist, a Christian, a Muslim and etc.
Getting there is super easy. You will need to take Tung Chung line MTR and stop at their last stop which is Tung Chung station. Once you there, follow the exit and there is a sign board to go to the cable car. It's within 2 minutes walking from the station.
Attractions :
There are 3 types of cable car. If you are not afraid of heights and would like to maximise your experience, I suggest you to take the crystal cabin. But in my case, I only took standard cabin since my sister is afraid of heights. And standard cabin is much cheaper. Apart from that, they have Disney theme cabin, you can take this cabin with your kids.
There is no entrance fee. You can straight away take the stairs but prepare your legs as it is quite exhausting taking the stairs especially during summer. But once you are at the top, the view is so amazing and you are going to feel proud of yourself for taking such stairs.
Food & Restaurants :
After you taking the cable car, at the Ngong Ping village entrance, there is a lot of restaurants and desserts shops and 7Eleven is there too. Plus point, halal restaurant is there, so if you are a Muslim, you do not need to worry of finding halal restaurant.
Shopping :
At the Ngong Ping village entrance, there is a lot of Souveniers shop for you to buy. But I personally think that the price is quite expensive, a small keychain could cost you HKD 80 per piece. We end up did not buy anything.
Going to Ngong Ping during summer is a memorable experience. A visit to Ngong Ping is a must!

#hongkongtrip 📍Address: Hong Kong, those who are into superstitions must not miss this trip. You can come all year round. It is near Thailand. 💞Reason for recommendation: It takes a little over 2 hours to get off the plane and you can continue your trip. The food is delicious. It is a very easy country to travel to. There is also Disneyland. If you don't want to fly all the way to Japan, come here first. The weather depends on the season. If you plan well, you can travel worthwhile. The ticket price is not expensive.

🧘♀️✨ A Day on Lantau Island – From the Clouds to the Coast ✨🏝️
Took a little break from the city buzz and spent a peaceful day exploring Lantau Island — and wow, it was soul-refreshing 💛🌿
📍 Big Buddha (Tian Tan Buddha) – Climbed all 268 steps (yes, my legs still remember 😂) to stand beneath one of the world’s largest seated Buddhas. The views? Majestic. The vibe? Pure serenity 🧘♂️🙏
🌬️ Pro tip: Take the Ngong Ping 360 cable car for panoramic views that’ll steal your breath and fill your camera roll 🚠📸
🐟 Tai O Fishing Village – Just a short bus ride away, this quiet village felt like stepping back in time. Stilt houses over water, locals selling dried seafood, and the best grilled squid I’ve ever had 🐙🔥
Took a little boat ride through the village — and even spotted a pink dolphin from afar (lucky moment? maybe 😍)
💬 This was a totally different side of Hong Kong — calm, cultural, and full of character. Highly recommend making the trip if you're craving something slower and more soulful.
Would you start your day with:
👉 Buddha views and mountain air? 🧘♂️
🐟 Or island life and fishing village charm? 🎣
📍 Save this post if you’re planning a full-circle Hong Kong experience!
