Xiaomeisha Ocean World Experience: Inconvenient Transportation, Inadequate Facilities, and Low Cost-Effectiveness
📍Address: Xiaomeisha Ocean World, Yantian District, Shenzhen
🚇Transportation: Take Metro Line 8 to Exit C of Xiaomeisha Station, then walk for about 10 minutes (there's no shelter along the way, so rain gear is recommended).
I recently visited Xiaomeisha Ocean World with my family and was generally disappointed. While the location is convenient and the walk from the subway station to the park isn't too far, many sections of the road are under construction, making it difficult for strollers or wheelchairs. Furthermore, with recent heavy rain, the open-air sections are completely unprotected, so it's recommended to bring rain gear in advance.
🎫Ticket Price: Approximately 700 yuan for two adults and one child (children under 1 meter are free). At this price, I personally think it's not a good value. While the park boasts approximately 200 species of marine life, offering a combination of viewing, entertainment, and education, it's actually quite small, consisting of only two floors, housing the aquarium, cetacean house, theater, and sea lion polyculture hall. A thorough tour takes about two hours, and even with meals, it takes a maximum of three hours.
⚠️The main issue was that we were visiting on that day, and many facilities were closed. The bionic whale shark show was canceled, several exhibits were closed, and even the escalators were out of service for "safety reasons" (though most of the visitors were middle school students, so shutting down the escalators was unnecessary). Visitors with strollers or wheelchairs were extremely inconvenienced, and accessibility was severely lacking.
🗑️Regarding sanitation, the school group had lunch inside the facility, and there were a significant shortage of trash cans, resulting in a large amount of garbage piling up on the floor. Despite the constant cleaning efforts of the two staff members, they were overwhelmed. Many students not only failed to pick up their own trash, but also kicked and rubbed debris, causing a negative impact on the environment.
🍔The fast food options within the park were reasonable, likely due to the frequent group visits, but the food was mediocre, so it's recommended to manage your expectations.
✅The only improvement: Since July, beach access has been included in the ticket price, which may improve the experience slightly in good weather. However, given the current facility conditions and management, visiting with friends and family is still not recommended, and families should consider carefully.
Overall, Xiaomeisha Ocean World urgently needs to improve its facility maintenance and visitor management, otherwise its ticket prices will be difficult to justify.
