Though small in size, the density and arrangement of cherry blossoms here are excellent, creating a stunning scene when in full bloom. With the NHK building as a backdrop, picnicking under the cherry trees in the circular plaza offers a unique and picturesque experience. During cherry blossom season, the park hosts a nostalgic Showa-era market during the day and a mesmerizing night cherry blossom illumination event in the evening, making it lively and fun. There were so many baths that I couldn't fit everyone in 👀 ✨Around 14:10 Abe Kamaboko Shop I ate the famous freshly fried gourd fried fish!!! It looks and tastes like an American hot dog, but the inside is filled with sasakama, so I recommend enjoying the Sendai specialty sasakama! 🍵Around 14:30 Ocha no Igeta It's famous for its matcha ice cream and Kikufuku, and I was happy to be able to enjoy both at the same time 😋 More than anything, it was delicious!!! 🪦Around 15:30 Zuihoden This is the place where Date Masamune is enshrined, and there was a stylish building in gold, red, green, etc.!!! 🌸Around 16:30 Nishikicho Park I went to see the cherry blossoms!!! Maybe because of the bad weather, it was empty, but I was able to see the cherry blossoms in almost full bloom 🙌 I recommend going during the cherry blossom season! 🏮Around 18:00 Nomi-eidokoro Geunson An izakaya that I found by chance. Additionally, there are many cafes and restaurants around the park where you can enjoy local delicacies after flower viewing. Although Nishiki-cho Park is small in scale, it is undoubtedly an excellent spot for cherry blossom viewing for those who enjoy a leisurely atmosphere and want to avoid the crowds.

Nishi Park's cherry blossoms mainly consist of Edo Higan and Somei Yoshino varieties. Compared to other cherry blossom viewing spots in Sendai, the blooming period here is about a week earlier, making it a perfect destination for flower enthusiasts who want to catch an early glimpse. The cherry blossoms are incredibly beautiful. There are no stalls or noisy drunkards here, allowing you to leisurely stroll and enjoy the flowers. This time I went to the Christmas market held at Nishikicho Park! It's within walking distance from Sendai Station. It's closer to the station than Kotodai Park, so it was easy to walk there. I went on a day when there was no admission fee, so I went in for free! When I went in, there were so many food stalls that I was instantly hungry I wanted to eat quickly. This time it was like a hot dog and German fries? I ate it. In the back, there was an outdoor facility where you could sit and eat, and a snow globe-like thing I ate my fill.

There are more than 30 stalls in the market, selling various Christmas decorations, handicrafts and delicacies. 🍴 The most eye-catching thing is the five-meter-high Christmas tree, which is lit up at night, adding a strong festive atmosphere to the market. 🎅 The specially launched limited edition mug has become a must-have souvenir every year! The dates that require admission tickets are December 14, 15, 21-25, and mugs are available, and children under elementary school age can enter for free. I visited on December 15th and although there were fewer tourists due to the rain, the store still offered a wide range of food options. #thingstodo It is a relaxing park surrounded by Honmachi and Nishikicho, where offices, vocational schools, and preparatory schools are located, and is loved by citizens along with Kotodai Park, which is located to the northwest of the park across Jozenji Street (National Route 45). As a park it serves it's purpose. Nothing special here other than some sculptures as landmarks. This park is often used in events though so there's always something going on here.
