Bodhisattva Peak was first built during the Northern Wei Dynasty under Emperor Xiaowen and was called Zhenrong Temple. It was one of the five major meditation sites of Wutai Mountain. The current buildings are relics from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is renowned for its Yellow Sect headquarters and palace-style architecture. Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty ordered its reconstruction and exceptionally allowed the use of yellow on the buildings, signifying that Bodhisattva Peak was of the same standard as royal buildings. Official guardians were stationed at the front and rear gates to protect the incense burners and offerings, showcasing the emperor's 'supreme' and 'noble and wealthy' status, which is unique among the four famous Buddhist mountains. Emperor Kangxi visited Bodhisattva Peak five times for pilgrimage, and Emperor Qianlong visited six times, leaving numerous inscriptions and calligraphy. The temple is now listed as a 'National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit' by the State Council. The Mahavira Hall of Bodhisattva Peak, also known as the Great Buddha Hall, has a base of blue and white stone Sumeru seats, 16 meters wide and 16.5 meters deep.
