A café in Seongsu 🩷 I visited this place because I heard they have the trendy Hello Kitty-themed sweets 🎀 The sweets are chocolate-based, so they feature a "Ganguro Kitty" design 🤎 The interior isn't very spacious, and since it's a popular spot, you might have to wait. Also, there's a one-hour time limit. When visiting the village, remember to keep quiet as it is a residential area. Avoid making noise, playing around, or touching the doors of the houses. ARTIST BAKERY 🥯 located in Anguk, Seoul This bakery, famous for its salted bread, is conveniently located near Exit 1 of Anguk Station! It opens at 7:30 AM, but you can scan the QR code at the storefront starting from 7:00 AM, allowing early visitors to enter quickly 🍞!! Takeout customers can purchase without waiting in line, but the store tends to get crowded right after opening, making it hard to browse the bread leisurely 😭. I arrived before opening, but I had trouble scanning the QR code and ended up waiting for about an hour 🥲🥲. . While waiting outside, the staff kindly offered warm welcome drinks, which made the experience feel pleasant 🍵. . I tried the hard salted bread, sandwich-style bread, lemon salted bread, and potato salted bread 🍋🥔. Every time I watch Korean dramas and see characters enjoying Korean beef, I get excited and curious about what makes it so special. So, during this trip to Korea, indulging in a Korean beef feast was a must! There are plenty of restaurants serving Korean beef, but I decided to visit Majang-dong, a street famous for its Korean beef. Here, you can buy the meat directly from the source and then take it to a partnered restaurant for preparation—similar to buying seafood at a fish market and having it cooked at a nearby restaurant. Majang-dong primarily caters to locals, with only a few tourists venturing here. As soon as you step into the market, you're greeted by the unmistakable aroma of beef. After doing some research beforehand, I headed straight to the butcher shop 우하라 to purchase my meat. The shop owner was incredibly warm and friendly. When she learned we were from Taiwan, she was even more delighted and pointed to a Taiwan bear badge on the wall, mentioning her fondness for Taiwan from a previous visit. Although she didn’t speak Chinese, she used a translator to recommend cuts of meat to us. As she sliced the meat, she explained each cut and enthusiastically highlighted the premium ones, saying they were "amazing" 👍🏻👍🏻. After weighing the meat, the total cost came to ₩75,600 ($1654), but the owner generously rounded it down to ₩75,000. On top of that, she pulled out three additional boxes of high-quality meat from the fridge and gifted them to us! She then personally escorted us to a partnered restaurant to enjoy our meal. The restaurant was clean and air-conditioned, offering unlimited side dishes. The self-service barbecue fee was only ₩7,000 ($153) per person—such a bargain! The Korean beef was absolutely delicious—tender, juicy, and free of any unpleasant odor. It was so good that I’m already planning to return next time. After binge watching countless Korean dramas on Netflix I finally had a chance to visit Seoul over the summer. It’s the make developed and advanced city I’ve ever visited and I was blown away by the efficiency and accessibility of everything across the city. A stunning contrast of old and new with historical palaces surrounded by burgeoning skylines that help to represent South Korea’s phenomenal development over the last few decades The national palace museums were a highlight and the sheer scale of it has to be seen to be believed. The national museum of Korean history is across the road and gives you a more up to date summary of the country. We stayed in Itaewon which is the nightlife and food hub of the city, frequented by tourists and students alike. Gangnam was great for shopping and getting a taste of the more luxurious side of life in Seoul. If you’re there for more than 48 hours a trip to the demilitarised zone at the border of North Korea is a must do! However you can only go on authorised trips so book and plan in advance! Whenever traveling to Seoul, the most important thing is to find accommodation with convenient transportation. Shinsin Hotel is located at the intersection of Myeongdong and City Hall Station. Not only can you walk to Myeongdong for shopping, but it's also very close to City Hall Station on Line 2 for taking the subway. There's also a bus stop and airport bus within a 1-minute walk. The room setup is decent. Although the space is not large (most hotels in Seoul aren't), it comes with a bidet toilet and a shower room. The dressing table has a mirror convenient for makeup, and the entrance area features a wardrobe/full-length mirror. There's also space to lay out your suitcase. Considering the price, there's really nothing to complain about.
