Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou, take shelter from the storm! Take shelter!!
Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou, take shelter from the storm! Take shelter!!
Clickbait, random thoughts on Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou, with itinerary and hotel recommendations at the end! Total cost 4000 yuan
A child from the plains visiting the plateau for the first time, Jiuzhaigou is really too beautiful~ Any random shot can be used as wallpaper, any filter would be disrespectful to it! Must go again once the high-speed rail is connected
From Wuxi to Chengdu Tianfu, actually Tianfu Airport is not as demonized as said online, took the subway Line 18 at 5 pm, arrived at the hotel near Hongxingqiao Subway Station at 6 pm! Great location🉑, right out of the subway station, recommended for budget travelers! Chengdu citywalk is very convenient by subway~
Sanxingdui Museum: Take the high-speed train to Guanghan Station, a 15-minute taxi ride for 20 yuan (seems to be a fixed price) takes about 3 hours to tour, remember to buy tickets in advance for holidays!!!!!!
Chengdu Giant Panda Base: Wanted to see the pandas, two hours was too rushed, just followed the crowd to see other pandas, caught a little one sleeping on the job
Jiuzhaigou: Took the 10:30 am high-speed train to Zhenjiang Pass, booked a direct bus on Ctrip, arrived at Jiuzhaigou around 4 pm, took a taxi to the hotel (be sure to ask the price in advance, starting price of 15 for 1 kilometer), the hotel is located at the mouth of the valley, within walking distance, there's a McDonald's, Book also, the popular Tomato Yak Pot restaurant is nearby within walking distance, many people recommended it, no queue if you arrive early, but it's not particularly delicious (compared to the restaurant on the second day it's considered good)
The next morning, went straight into the scenic area, there are buses inside, followed the route to visit, there are stops to take the bus, walked about 13 kilometers in total, must wear comfortable shoes!! The scenic area has everything it should have (here I want to complain about the Kudi, one cup sold for 35, I have never seen such expensive Kudi, I understand it's expensive in the scenic area~ but this is a bit too much, the neighboring Xuewang is only 1 yuan more expensive hahaha, long live Xuewang! Luckin Coffee is under renovation inside the scenic area, waiting for it to open and outcompete Kudi) For dinner, Himalayan Music Tibetan Restaurant, really avoid this place! Ordered stir-fried wild vegetables, got a pot of stir-fried lettuce leaves... counts as wild vegetables???
On the third day, the return trip was still a direct bus from Ctrip, high-speed train from Zhenjiang Pass to Chengdu East, direct high-speed train from Chengdu East to Tianfu Airport, Chengdu East Station has transfer instructions, follow them for 5 minutes to the next train's ticket gate, Tianfu Airport exit is a 5-minute walk, directly to self-service check-in and baggage drop, go upstairs for security check, very fast! The whole process can be done in 20 minutes!

Listen, see, and feel the magnificent mountains and rivers, the splendid culture, and the profound history of Sichuan. See the naked-eye 3D screen and the climbing giant panda, a scene of a prosperous and modern city. Visit Dujiangyan to see the ancient water conservancy project between mountains and rivers. Standing in the clear and turbulent Minjiang River, I felt as if I had traveled back to the grand scene of Li Bing's water control two thousand years ago, feeling the power of the ancients to transform nature. Visit the Sanxingdui Museum to feel the incredible ancient civilization. Standing in front of the relics, I pondered over the five thousand years of Chinese civilization, which has been continuous. Visit Jiuzhaigou to see the most beautiful water in the world. The lakes are like gems embedded in the plateau, so crystal clear and colorful. There are also the magnificent Pearl Shoal, Nuorilang Waterfall, and the mist of water splashed by the mountain streams, which are refreshing. Visit Huanglong to see the beautiful Jade Pool. Drunk in the colorful pool between the snow-capped mountains and the ancient Tibetan Buddhist temple, I marveled at the magic of nature. The scenery along the way down the mountain is beautiful. Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong are beautiful. Visit the Wuhou Shrine to see the Tang stele, the Hui Mausoleum, the statue of Kong Ming, and the civil and military officials. Feel the noble character of the monarch-minister relationship and the indifference to fame and fortune in the "Memorial to the Throne." Visit the Panda Base to see the national treasure giant pandas. The playful and cute national treasures are very lovely and fun. The 7-day tour of Sichuan was really worthwhile (November 2-9).

Sanxingdui Museum (2).
Sanxingdui was discovered in 1929, when a farmer named Yan Daocheng in Guanghan, Sichuan Province, accidentally discovered a pit of jade artifacts in a field. These jade artifacts were sold by villagers, attracting the attention of a British missionary. In 1934, the curator of the West China Union University Museum, David Crockett Graham, and others conducted a ten-day preliminary excavation, unearthing more than 600 jade, stone, and pottery artifacts.
Due to frequent wars at the time, archaeological work was forced to stop. It wasn't until 1952, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, that archaeologists resumed excavations at Sanxingdui, discovering the Sanxingdui and Moon Bay sites of the ancient Shu civilization.
In 1980, archaeological work resumed again, and a large number of stone and pottery artifacts were discovered. In 1986, the discovery of two large sacrificial pits shocked the world. A large number of bronze, gold, and jade artifacts were unearthed.

Travel through the tunnel of time and explore the Sanxingdui civilization from 3,000 years ago.
Sanxingdui culture is like a mysterious treasure hidden in the fog of history, waiting for the world to explore and discover. It is located in Guanghan City, Sichuan Province, and is an ancient Shu cultural site dating back about 4,800 to 3,100 years, covering an area of about 12 square kilometers. The discovery of Sanxingdui has unveiled the mysterious veil of the ancient Shu civilization and presented a highly developed bronze civilization.
Sanxingdui bronzes are famous for their unique shapes and exquisite craftsmanship. These bronze masks, figures, and sacred trees are not only numerous, but also complex in craftsmanship, full of mystery. Among them, the bronze mask has protruding eyeballs and open ears, as if it can see everything in the world, and is called "thousand-mile eye" and "downwind ear". These mysterious bronzes make people wonder whether the ancient Shu people had communicated with extraterrestrial visitors, or whether they had mastered some unknown ancient knowledge.
The goldware of Sanxingdui is also eye-catching, such as gold rods and gold masks. These goldware not only show the superb metallurgical technology of the ancient Shu people, but also reflect their symbols of power and religious beliefs. Some scholars believe that these goldware may be related to the myths and legends of the ancient Shu people, and may even echo the records in the "Classic of Mountains and Seas".
In addition, the scale and complexity of the Sanxingdui site is also its mystery. This is a huge urban site, and its large scale and complex layout are amazing. A large number of buildings, roads, and water conservancy systems have been found in the site, which shows that people at that time had quite high urban planning and engineering technology.
The mystery of Sanxingdui culture lies not only in its unique cultural relics, but also in its unknown historical background. So far, no text or record related to Sanxingdui civilization has been found, which makes us know very little about the specific information and historical background of this civilization. This lack of written records makes Sanxingdui culture more mysterious.
Although there are still many unsolved mysteries about the mystery of Sanxingdui, with the continuous development of technology and in-depth research, our understanding of this site is gradually expanding. Through the research and excavation of cultural relics, archaeologists are gradually unveiling the historical veil of Sanxingdui and restoring the glory of ancient civilization for us. However, more efforts and research are still needed to solve the mystery of this mysterious site.

Sanxingdui Art Masterpieces [Unrivaled, dare not say unprecedented].
Sanxingdui Museum is located in Guanghan City, Deyang City, Sichuan Province. It is the largest, longest-lasting, and richest cultural connotation of ancient cities, ancient countries, and ancient Shu cultural sites discovered in southwestern China. The museum was planned in 1988 and officially opened to the public in October 1997. There are many cultural relics unearthed from the Sanxingdui site, many of which are precious national treasures, such as the bronze statue, the bronze sacred tree, and the golden scepter. These cultural relics show the highly developed and unique charm of ancient Shu civilization.
The exhibits in the Sanxingdui Museum are rich and diverse, including pottery, jade, gold, and bronze. Among them, the bronze statue is a masterpiece among the many bronze statues in Sanxingdui. It is considered to be the image of the highest ruler. Its clothing, image, and volume all show its noble status. In addition, the museum also exhibits important cultural relics such as the golden scepter, ivory, sacrificial mountain jade, and pottery tripod, which not only show the superb craftsmanship of the ancient Shu people, but also reflect their unique religious beliefs and social structure.
The construction and development of the Sanxingdui Museum has gone through several stages, including the construction and opening of the new museum. On July 27, 2023, the new museum of the Sanxingdui Museum began trial operation. The exterior design of the new museum was inspired by the original image of Sanxingdui. The building area of the new museum is 5 times that of the original exhibition hall. It exhibits more than 1,500 cultural relics, nearly 600 of which are exhibited for the first time, including more than 300 treasures unearthed from the newly discovered sacrificial pit.
Sanxingdui Museum is not only a place to display ancient Shu civilization, but also a platform for scientific research and education. Through various exhibitions and activities, the museum conveys to the public the rich connotations and historical value of ancient Shu civilization, and also promotes further research and exploration of Sanxingdui culture and the origin of Chinese civilization.

A Day of History at Sanxingdui: Uncovering an Ancient Civilization
#travelgram A day at Sanxingdui in Sichuan Province is like stepping into a mysterious world that predates much of known Chinese history. Our journey began at the Sanxingdui Museum, where the vast collection of artifacts from the ancient Shu civilization immediately transported us back over 3,000 years. The museum’s exhibits, particularly the iconic bronze masks with their exaggerated features and large, staring eyes, are both awe-inspiring and enigmatic. These artifacts, with their intricate designs and otherworldly appearance, sparked a sense of wonder and curiosity as we pondered the lost civilization that created them.
As we moved through the museum, we encountered fascinating relics, including bronze trees, jade tools, and gold artifacts, each telling a story of the sophisticated artistry and culture of the Shu people. The more we explored, the deeper the mystery became—how had this advanced civilization disappeared so suddenly, leaving behind only these stunning clues of their existence? Walking through the museum halls, we found ourselves engaged in conversations about the unknowns of history, sharing our thoughts and excitement over each new discovery.
The outdoor excavation sites, where many of these artifacts were unearthed, offered a deeper connection to the past. Standing beside the ancient pits, surrounded by towering sculptures and the outlines of what was once a thriving city, we felt the weight of history all around us. This day at Sanxingdui was not just a visit to a museum; it was an immersive journey into a forgotten civilization, leaving us with a sense of awe and a newfound appreciation for the mysteries of human history.

The Sanxingdui site is an ancient cultural site located in Guanghan City, Sichuan Province, with a history of about 5,000 to 3,000 years. A large number of precious cultural relics have been discovered here, including the earliest gold scepter in the world, the largest bronze statue in the world, and the bronze sacred tree. The discovery of the Sanxingdui site provides important value for the study of the process of early states and the development of religious consciousness, and is an important site for exploring the origin of the multi-element Chinese civilization.
The archaeological cultural features of the Sanxingdui site mainly have four periods, from the late Neolithic Age to the late Shang Dynasty to the early Western Zhou Dynasty. Among them, the cultural relics of the first period are about 4,500 to 3,600 years ago, the cultural relics of the second period are about 3,600 to 3,300 years ago, the cultural relics of the third period are about 3,300 to 3,100 years ago, and the cultural relics of the fourth period are about 3,100 to 2,900 years ago.
The cultural relics unearthed from the Sanxingdui site have extremely high artistic and historical value. Among them, bronze masks, bronze standing figures, and bronze sacred trees are all symbols of ancient Shu civilization. These cultural relics not only show the uniqueness and creativity of the ancient Shu civilization, but also show that the ancient Shu civilization, as an important part of the Chinese civilization, has developed to a considerable height at that time.
From 2020 to 2024, archaeologists discovered new remains related to jade and stone tool production and processing at the Sanxingdui site. These remains are believed to be the jade and stone tool "production workshops" in the middle of the Shang Dynasty, providing a new perspective for the study of ancient Shu civilization.
The discovery and research of the Sanxingdui site not only provides us with a new window to understand ancient civilization, but also continuously enriches our understanding of the historical process of the multi-element Chinese civilization.
Travel back in time and touch the immortal Sanxingdui civilization. Are you really not going to get close?

Because I have taken some for you~
As one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, it brings shock to mankind as the theme of the Sanxingdui Museum says "Sleeping for thousands of years, waking up to shock the world". Since you are in Sichuan, how can you not go to Sanxingdui? Here are some things I think you need to pay attention to during my trip, you can refer to it!
The pottery pig in Sanxingdui is very similar to the pig in today's cartoons. At the same time, Sanxingdui also unearthed a lot of pottery about animal shapes, including pigs, dogs, tigers, and snakes. It proves that the ancestors at that time had begun to raise livestock. Only in the process of raising livestock and living with these animals day and night can the animals be made so vivid. This pottery pig may be a toy made by the Sanxingdui people for children at that time.

Sanxingdui
amazing museum
i cant imagine that in the past people can create the shapes of weird things. it looks like alien (if I would say now) but in the past, this shape may be someone or something. it's still a mystery story that how come in the past people have built these things
some are huge in size. which normal humans can't wear it. and many items are related to the religions and believe in that era.
it is good to see and learn something from the past to adapt on ur real days

Sanxingdui's golden masks, jade and pottery.
Sanxingdui is located on the south bank of the Yazi River in Sanxingdui Town, Guanghan City, Sichuan Province. It is a Shu culture site from the Neolithic to the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, covering an area of about 12 square kilometers and dating back about 4,800 to 2,800 years. The site is centered around the ancient city of Sanxingdui from the Xia and Shang Dynasties. Relying on the Yazi River and spanning the Mamu River, it forms a defensive system with city walls on the east, west, and south sides and the Yazi River to the north. The ancient city covers an area of about 370 hectares and can be divided into a sacrificial area, a residential area, a workshop area, and a burial area. There are also important rammed earth architectural sites such as Sanxingdui and Moon Bay, reflecting the highly prosperous and well-planned ancient city. It is one of the largest ancient city sites of the same period discovered in China and is the largest ancient cultural site in the southwestern region of China with a regional central status. The large number of unearthed objects prove the existence of the ancient Shu Kingdom. The existence of the Sanxingdui site is of great value for exploring the evolution of early human political organizations and social forms, and for studying the development of early national processes and religious consciousness. It occupies an important position in the history of human civilization.

Promise me that you will choose the night session when you visit Sanxingdui during the summer vacation!
Regarding the origin of the name of the Sanxingdui site, there is a saying that when this site was discovered, there were three large mounds here. The three large mounds were separated by a river called Ma Mu River, and the opposite side was called Moon Bay, forming a pattern of stars surrounding the moon, or three stars accompanying the moon. To make it sound better, some cultured people named these three mounds 'Three Stars Accompanying the Moon Mounds,' which was later simplified to 'Sanxingdui.'

The Amazing and Shocking Sanxingdui
Sanxingdui
Sanxingdui has been extremely popular recently, especially for students. It has always been my child's dream to visit. However, it's very hard to get a ticket. Let's talk about how to get a ticket first. Every day at 8 AM, you must start preparing at 7:55 AM. Fill in all the information correctly, refresh at 7:59 AM, and refresh again at 8 AM. If there are any remaining tickets, grab them quickly. As long as the order is generated, you are good to go. If it doesn't work out, there are afternoon sessions during the summer from 6 PM to 8 PM, which are easier to get and less crowded, but the time is really tight. Sanxingdui is very large, and two hours are really not enough. However, each has its advantages, so choose accordingly.
We managed to get tickets for both the afternoon and night sessions. Because we were traveling with elderly and children, we chose the night session due to our schedule. If you are taking children, you can plan ahead. Our child is 12 years old, so he researched Sanxingdui in advance. Due to time constraints, we made some choices and saw all the important exhibits first, such as the Bronze Sacred Tree, the Giant Standing Figure, and the masks. Regarding whether to hire a guide, if you have a morning session, you can queue up early to book a guide, which would be very beneficial. If you have an afternoon or night session, you can rent an audio guide, which is also a good option. A special reminder: if you have a night session and want to buy Sanxingdui cultural and creative products, make sure to do it early, as the store closes promptly at 8 PM.
Regarding parking at Sanxingdui, there's generally no need to worry. The parking lot is very large, but the surface is not paved. When leaving, you need to scan to pay the parking fee at the main gate, which can cause traffic jams. This is something the scenic area needs to optimize.
Overall, the experience at Sanxingdui is very good. It's shocking and really impacts our understanding of current civilization. I strongly recommend learning about it in advance to enhance your visit.
