The Soul of Kyoto: A Dreamy, Elegant Art Museum of a Hotel That Blends the Old with the New.
Step into this unique Kyoto hotel and it's as if you've traveled back in time. The air is steeped in the elegance of the Heian period. The designers used The Tale of Genji as a blueprint, retelling the classic tale with a modern aesthetic. The result is a series of exquisite paintings that pay homage to the glorious past of the ancient city of Kyoto.
The building's exterior is calm yet dynamic. Natural stone and warm wood complement each other, revealing a rustic beauty that only grows with time. Step through the door and you'll be greeted by centuries-old craftsmanship. The intricate weaving of Nishimura Shoten and the colorful ceramics of Yoshimura Rakunyu are as beautiful as Mt. Kurama in the early morning light, their colors shifting with the changing light.
The guest rooms are uniquely laid out, from the simple and elegant extra-large suites to the luxurious and spacious penthouses. Each space is full of meaning. The private terraces are the icing on the cake, inviting you to sit and enjoy a cup of tea while watching the clouds and savoring the many facets of life.
Art is not just a decoration here, it's the soul that flows through the blood. The innovative interpretation of the national treasure "Birds and Beasts Caricature" and the clever integration of Kyoto "Rakuyaki" tiles create a visual and spiritual feast. The healing path of tradition and modernity leads each visitor to explore the tranquility deep within.
Food is also a highlight. "All Day Dining Sekki" prepares dishes according to the changing seasons, allowing you to enjoy the freshness of the four seasons. The hidden "Nine Tails" bar, with its unique cocktails and mysterious atmosphere reminiscent of an antique pharmacy, awakens a long-lost sense of curiosity.
This is not just a place to stay, but a cultural journey through time and space, a complete release of body and mind. The soul of Kyoto is vividly interpreted here, waiting for every traveler who longs to touch the pulse of ancient Oriental civilization.

Quiet luxury in a great location. The entire property has a serene, relaxing vibe. My room was immaculate—a sanctuary of calm after a long day on my feet. I also had a therapeutic massage in the spa, followed by a long sauna and cold plunge. Perfection!Location is great right near the museum, easy walkable to temples, nice local shops, and not too far from anywhere you need or want to be

Nestled in a tranquil setting, Six Senses invites you with its blend of luxury and homely comfort. What sets it apart is its vibrant array of engaging programs and activities, all geared towards sustainability. And the restaurant and cafe have seasonal dishes straight from local produce, adding that special touch of charm. It's not just a hotel; it's a snug sanctuary in Kyoto. Plus, it's conveniently located near all the hotspots. And trust me, when you first walk into the lobby with the view of the garden, it's incredibly serene. And don't miss out on indulging in their wellness offerings as well.overall awesose

My first time in Kyoto and it’s been a while since I stayed at a Six Senses. Not only is Kyoto a really amazing city and a complete contrast to Tokyo but the Six Senses is a perfect fit for a well travelled person.
The hotel opened in April but the staff look after their guests as if it has been there for years which is a compliment to the management team there.
The room product is superb with large bathrooms and views over beautiful gardens. The restaurant and bar have a great selection of local dishes / drinks mixed in with some internationals go-to’s and the Spa is really the pinnacle of a great wellness experience.overall awesome
