I took the reverse route, perfectly avoiding the massive tour groups. Ascending around 9-10 am was super comfortable, and Tiandu Peak was practically empty. Keep an eye on the Huangshan cloud sea forecast; if it rains the day before and is sunny the next day, there's a high chance of seeing the sea of clouds, and it's easier to encounter in autumn and winter than in spring and summer. Highly recommend staying at Lion Forest Cottage, right next to Lion Peak, with incredible views from the floor-to-ceiling windows and super attentive butler service. Enjoy afternoon tea without leaving the mountain—pure bliss. Don't miss Taiping Lake Scenic Area after descending; it's a half-hour drive, and the lake water is as clear as emerald. Taking a boat trip around the islands is incredibly relaxing. ♥Transportation is super easy; take the high-speed train to Huangshan North Station, then a taxi or bus will get you to the scenic area in an hour. This trip completely changed my impression of Huangshan!

The road is surrounded by mountains and clouds, like something out of a fantasy world. The view at the Six Bends is amazing! Standing on the viewing platform, the winding mountain road looks like a giant dragon, with green mountains, trees, blue skies, and white clouds. Every photo is wallpaper-worthy. We stayed at Moon Bay Homestay for the night. The stream next to the homestay is crystal clear, and my kid jumped in as soon as we arrived, splashing around happily. My husband and I sat by the stream and enjoyed the evening breeze, and all our fatigue disappeared. 📍Day 2: Taiping Lake → Taiping Lake Macalline Hotel On the second day, we went to Taiping Lake, where the sunlight sparkled on the water. The hotel is a row of small villas, and the rooms have a great view of the lake! We sat on the balcony in the evening and watched the sunset. The sky turned orange-red, and the lake looked like a giant mirror. The photos were amazing, and we got so many likes on social media. 📍Day 3: Flower Inn Luxury · Jiuhua Mountain Above the Clouds Homestay The homestay is at the foot of Jiuhua Mountain, and the owner gave us a fruit platter when we arrived, which made my kid very happy. The courtyard is beautiful, with children's play facilities and a swimming pool. My kid didn't want to leave. We even saw a little tree frog after the rain, which was so cute! The breakfast was rich and exquisite, and every bite was satisfying. 📍Day 4: Return We returned home with wonderful memories. This trip to Southern Anhui was a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of nature. My kid had a great time, and we were able to relax. It was totally worth it!

Taiping Lake Scenic Area is located between Huangshan and Jiuhua Mountain, at the center of Anhui Province's "One Lake, Two Mountains" tourism development strategy. It is less than 30 km from the north gate of Huangshan, the south gate of Jiuhua Mountain, Taohuatan Scenic Area, and Zhaji Ancient Village Scenic Area. In 1970, the Chencun Reservoir was expanded into Taiping Lake and began to store water. Before that, two county towns were relocated: Taiping County and Shitai County. The original ancient towns were submerged underwater, becoming old streets at the bottom of the lake. The construction of this large reservoir is similar to Qiandao Lake in Zhejiang. Today, Taiping Lake has a wide surface, with scattered islands and mountains reflecting in the water. The lake is as green as jade, pure blue, and blends with the sky. At Taiping Lake Wharf, there are boats and motorboats for tourists to enjoy the lake and mountain scenery. There are several routes: some last more than two hours, while others last nearly four hours. We chose a route that lasted more than two hours, visiting Longyao Village, Monkey Island, and Tianxia Taiping City, sailing through the mist and rain. Longyao Village, near the north shore of Taiping Lake, combines primitive features, folk experiences, and natural landscapes. You can learn about the local ceramic culture and folk customs during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Monkey Island is a natural reserve for macaques, where you can observe monkeys playing up close. It is especially suitable for tourists with children, but also for elderly people with a childlike heart. Tianxia Taiping City, also known as Bagua Island, is located in the center of Taiping Lake. It is a unique attraction that combines natural scenery and traditional culture. The facilities on the island, such as the Bagua Maze, Hetu, and Luoshu, showcase traditional Chinese Zhouyi culture. Taiping Lake Scenic Area is vigorously developing water entertainment projects, such as jet boats, water flying fish, and banana boats. There are beautiful and well-equipped hotels and clubs 1 km from the wharf, providing living support for water sports and entertainment projects. Day 1: I thought Huangshan was already beautiful! Until I went to Taiping Lake next to Huangshan! The lake reflects the blue sky and white clouds, and the water is clear and blue! It looks like jelly, and there are many yellow leaves on the shore, full of autumn vibes! The beauty is beyond words, and photos can hardly capture it. It takes more than an hour to drive from Huangshan North Railway Station to Taiping Lake Pier, and it takes tens of minutes from Taiping Lake to Tangkou Town, the south gate of Huangshan. You can stay near the south gate of Huangshan at night. Day 2: I took the Yungu Cableway up the mountain in the morning. The ginkgo trees beside the cableway are stunning. You can use the fence as a frame to take photos that look like the painting A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains. If you're lucky, you can see the sea of clouds on the way. You can take photos at Paiyun Pavilion when you reach the West Sea Grand Canyon. Then you can choose to walk to the bottom of the canyon and enjoy the core beauty of Huangshan along the way. Take the small train to the top of the mountain and walk to the Guest-Greeting Pine, then take the Yuping Cableway down the mountain. It is very tight to visit Tiandu Peak, the West Sea Grand Canyon, and Bright Summit in one day. If you want to visit all of them, you can stay on the mountain like me if possible, so you will have enough time! Tips: The entrance ticket is free every Wednesday, and there will be more people than usual, so you need to book in advance! The temperature difference between morning and evening is large in autumn, so it is recommended to bring warm clothes.
