Takayama
Takayama is a city in Gifu Prefecture, located in the central region of Japan. Nestled in the Hida region, which is known for its high mountains and beautiful nature, Takayama is famous for its well-preserved ancient architecture and culture, earning it the nickname 'Little Kyoto of the mountains.'
Although often considered just a stopover or a place to stay for tourists heading to Shirakawa-go or Kamikochi, Takayama itself has plenty of attractions. The city boasts historical temples, small villages, cozy cafes, and markets. For those who enjoy rural, peaceful, and slow-paced life, and love the tender Hida beef, Takayama is highly recommended.
