Ubonrat Dam
Ubonrat Dam is located in Ubonrat Dam Subdistrict, Ubonrat District, Khon Kaen Province and Non Sang District, Si Bun Rueang District, Nong Bua Lamphu Province. It is the second multi-purpose dam in Thailand, after Bhumibol Dam. It is the first hydroelectric dam in the Northeast. The dam blocks the Phong River, a tributary of the Chi River. The dam is made of rock filled with clay core, 885 meters long, 32 meters high, and 6 meters wide. It can store approximately 2,200 million cubic meters of water and can produce 55 million kilowatts/hour of electricity. The construction of the dam began under the name Nam Phong Project, with cooperation from the United Nations Special Fund. It was completed in 1965.
Today, it is a beautiful place, a tourist attraction, a place to relax. You can take pictures, take a walk, watch the sunset, have a picnic in a comfortable atmosphere, or sit and eat on a raft. There are many restaurants and cafes. The journey is not far from Khon Kaen city, about 50 kilometers. If you go to Khon Kaen and don't stop by the dam, it would be a big mistake. #Khon Kaen #Ubonrat Dam How to get there - Drive
