Oudong was an ancient city of the post-Angkorian period (1618-1863 C.E), located 35 km Northwest of Phnom Penh. A nice ride out of town to soak up some history. Since the main Pagodas where in a hill it was a great combo of a hike and sightseeing which was ideal. When I walked up the cobble stones I thought I saw a lizard but it was pretty long and it turned out to be a brown snake, I really almost stepped on it. The Village 51th recently open to serve the local tourists to visit in the semi-modern resort. The location of this resort was about 20km from Phnom Penh city. We can come a long the street Basith mountain and turn right to street 51, we can see the newest resort with more than a hundred tables for lunch and dinner. There was many place to taking pictures for your memories.

Its amazing to see different ways of living since most of the locals that live nearby the river is still living in a traditional ways. The locals there is very welcoming and they would love to share some of their life experiences with you. In the area I visited - My Tho, I also got the chance to visit the coconut candy factories. You can see the process of making the coconut candies and purchase it. It comes with different kinds of flavour such as chocolate and durian. There is also mini zoo and garden in the same area which is cool. You can take a join in tour if you would love to visit. It will take about an hour or two to reach My Tho from Ho Chi Minh City. Beside My Tho, the tour will stop at one of the most popular pagoda, Vinh Trang which is just nearby the area. #escapethecity #mekongriver #rowingboat
