Wat Chao Arm
Wat Chao Am is located in Bang Khun Non Subdistrict, Bang Khun Non District, Bangkok Province. It belongs to the Mahanikaya sect. It is a temple for the people. It covers an area of 12 rai. It was built in 1779. It was a temple that King Taksin the Great built to dedicate merit to his royal concubine, Am or Chao Am, who was once misunderstood as having an affair and was sentenced to death. Within a day, Wat Chao Am built a large prang to enshrine the ashes of Princess Am. Although Wat Chao Am was originally dilapidated, at present, various structures within the temple that were damaged have been renovated to be complete again. This is to honor and serve as a royal memorial to King Taksin the Great, the person who built Wat Chao Am.
Inside the ordination hall of Wat Chao Am is the principal Buddha image. It is a Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya posture, cast from metal. It is a beautiful Buddha statue from the U Thong period. There is also the Luang Pho To Shrine inside the temple, where people and tourists come to pay homage. And of course, the most outstanding thing about Wat Chao Am is the Phra Prang of Wat Chao Am, which enshrines the Buddha's relics. 🙏🏻😇

Wat Chao Am: A Temple Built by King Taksin
🏡 Wat Chao Am was established in 1779 by King Taksin to dedicate it to his consort, Am, who was executed due to a misunderstanding that she was involved in an affair. The king also constructed a large prang to house her remains.
🏚 The construction was left incomplete as the king had to lead campaigns against various enemy groups. Later, villagers contributed to completing the construction, but the temple deteriorated over time.
🏕 In 1969, Field Marshal Praphas Charusathien, the Minister of Interior, led efforts to donate a large drum to the temple and planted Bodhi and Sala trees brought from Bodh Gaya. He also restored the prang and enshrined sacred relics at its peak.
🙏 In recent years, various structures within the temple have been renovated to honor King Taksin.
Key attractions within the temple include:
🏠 The ordination hall housing the principal Buddha image in the posture of subduing Mara, cast in metal, representing the U-Thong style.
⛺ The Viharn of Luang Pho To, featuring a Buddha image in the posture of subduing Mara.
