Wat Chedi Liam, the gateway to the ancient city📍
Wat Chedi Liam, the original name was Wat Ku Kam. Ku means pagoda, Kham means gold. The temple is located at Ban Chedi Liam, Koh Klang Road, Tambon Tha Wang Tan, Amphoe Saraphi, Chiang Mai, near the Ping River and next to Wiang Kum Kam.
This temple is like a gateway to the ancient city of Wiang Kum Kam. King Mangrai, the first king of Lanna, ordered its construction in 1831, which is about 700 years old. It is so long that the temple was registered as an ancient monument in 1980.
The highlight of Wat Chedi Liam that you can see immediately upon arrival is the Burmese-Khmer style pagoda, which is very prominent and beautiful. The temple is located near a community area. The surrounding area is a mix of houses and shops, but it is very quiet. If you visit Wat Chedi Liam, drive a little further to see Wiang Kum Kam, the old city of Chiang Mai in the past. Take a horse carriage, there is a guide service, or if you want to visit Wiang Kum Kam, you can inquire at this temple because there is a tram service.
