It took almost 2 hours to clear immigration and collect our luggage. - Take the HSR to Sun Moon Lake. 🛏 Stayed at Shui Sha Lian Hotel - Harbor Resort, right next to the harbor. The room was nice and spacious, with a balcony and a great lake view. 🍲 We arrived at the hotel around 8 PM. Tonight, we had lunch at 7-11. *Sun Moon Lake is quite cool at night. When we went, it was 11 degrees Celsius and very windy. It was very cold. 🌸Day 2 - Have breakfast at the hotel. - Wenwu Temple. Travel by bus around the island. You can buy tickets at the bus counter. - Starbucks. The lake view is amazing. - Sun Moon Lake Ropeway Station. Buy boat and cable car tickets at the counter next to the hotel. 📍 Location No. 63, Zhongzheng Road, Yuchi Township, Nantou County ⸻ 🚗 Transportation • Driving by yourself: From Taichung, take National Highway 6 to the Ailan Interchange, then take Provincial Highway 14 to Yuchi Township and turn onto Zhongzheng Road to arrive. • Public Transportation: Take the Taiwan Express Sun Moon Lake Line to Wenwu Temple Station and get off there. ⸻ 📝 Personal experience Sun Moon Lake Wenwu Temple is located on the mountainside on the north side of Sun Moon Lake, with its back to the mountain and facing the lake. The terrain is steep and built according to the mountain terrain. It becomes higher and higher as it goes back, and it looks solemn and majestic. The main entrance of the temple faces the ring road around the lake and is a dark green marble archway with "Wenwu Temple" inscribed on the front, and "Chongwen" and "Chongwu" inscribed on the left and right. There are couplets on the beams and pillars on both sides, "The Tao penetrates the past and present, and the virtue is comparable to the creation" and "The benevolence shines like the sun and the moon, and the righteousness is as deep as the clouds."  The history of Wenwu Temple can be traced back to 1932, when a dam was built to store water at Sun Moon Lake. The Longfeng Temple and Yihuatang Temple, originally located on the shore of the lake, were in danger of being submerged. They were then merged and relocated to their current location in 1934 and completed in 1938. In 1969, Wenwu Temple was rebuilt in the architectural style of the Northern Dynasties of China, showing a magnificent momentum.   The temple is mainly divided into three parts: the front hall is the "Worship Hall", which enshrines the founding gods and Emperor Wenchang; the middle hall is the "Martial Saint Hall", which mainly enshrines Emperor Guan and Yue Wumu King; the back hall is the "Dacheng Hall", which mainly enshrines the most holy teacher Confucius. What’s special is that the Dacheng Hall is the only Confucius Temple in Taiwan with a central door, symbolizing Confucius’ spirit of teaching without distinction.   Climb up to the observation deck behind the temple and overlook the beautiful scenery of Sun Moon Lake. In addition, the "Year Stairs Trail" behind the temple has a total of 366 steps, symbolizing each day of the year. There are wind chimes for blessing along the way. Visitors can hang wind chimes on the steps where their birthday is and pray for themselves.
