I read reviews about Bamboo Café, located along Wuliu Lane and one day decided to go there for a coffee and good book kind of afternoon. The coffee shop has a nice minimal aesthetic and good lighting. The atmosphere is nice and cosy. I ordered a cold latte and tried their pumpkin cake which was soft, quite filling and not too sweet. I saw on the map that it was along a river but never thought that this place had more to offer. It’s a beautiful lane with restaurants, teahouses, cafés, flowers and lush green plants. It’s also a living area with traditional Chinese architecture. I found out that there’s a ferry (Meihuapi station) which you can take to Baziqiao ferry station, east of Wulin Square. If you’re looking for a nice place to hang out while being in the city, Wuliu lane is a good choice ☕️📖🌷🌿✨ How to go ➡️ I took the metro to Ding’an Road station (定安路) and rode a Hello bike all the way there. 五柳巷历史街区 aka Wuliuxiang history block. Hangzhou. In fact, this place represents regular walking street but just occupying whole district. It was pretty interesting to walk there and watch very curious architectural design applied to every building. Shops are selling souvenirs, restaurants are attracting passbyers by cooked there food flavour. I found this place is a good option for spending the rest of the day after roaming west Lake forest and exploring famous landmarks. #holidayvacation

During the Southern Song Dynasty, Wuliu Garden was built here, hence the name. In the past, it was a residence for officials and nobles, and later it became a dwelling place for common people, with many small craftsmen and traders living here. In the thirty-third year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1907), a train station was built inside the Qingtai Gate, and trains entered the city, making this area increasingly lively. In 1966, it was renamed Xia Youyi Alley, and in 1981, the old name was restored. The alley still retains the lane buildings constructed during the Republic of China period, and the Hangzhou municipal government has included it in the conservation plan for historical and cultural districts.

11/15 Wuliuxiang Historic District Today is my last day in Hangzhou. After checking out, I left my luggage and found a place to visit that is close to the hotel. I took a bus from the bus stop near the hotel to the Wuliuxiang Historical District. ⭐You can take the water bus line 7 to the Wuliuxiang Historical District. We took it from Meihuabei Station to Baziqiao Station. The whole journey takes about 40-50 minutes (3 RMB). It is one of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. Willows are swaying along the river, which is very pleasant. I heard that it is one of the historical districts that locals like to visit the most. After getting off the boat, walk along the east bank of the river back to Meihuapi, walk into the district, slow down your pace, some people are enjoying fishing quietly by the river, and there are also three or five residents gathering to play cards. Time really slows down here.
