20 photos are never enough — so here’s a tribute to some unforgettable eats from this Dongbei trip:
🍚 Sea intestine rice bowl (海肠捞饭) – found everywhere in Dalian and worth every bite.
🔥 Northeastern-style grilled skewers (东北烤串) – from bustling street stalls to cozy restaurants with live music, pick your vibe.
🌽 Grilled corn & stir-fried green bamboo shoots with jellyfish (青笋炒海蜇) – crunchy, fresh, so addictive.
🍒 Cherry pork (车厘子肉) – sweet & sour, super appetizing.
🦪 Fried oyster at 喜鼎 – must tried restaurant in Dalian- hands down the best fried oyster I’ve had.
🥟 Sea urchin dumplings (海胆饺子) – indulgent and rich.
🍰 Fuwa fuwa soufflé (舒芙蕾) – soft and dreamy.
🐟 Braised Spanish mackerel (红烧鲅鱼) at a Yingkou restaurant – classic comfort.
🍖 Old-style sweet and sour pork (老式锅包肉) – tried it across Shenyang, Harbin, and Dalian. All versions = chef’s kiss.
🍆🥔 Three earthy treasures (地三鲜) and 凉皮 fresh silky cold noodles and oh so refreshing– a local classic, especially good in Harbin.
🍗 Korean-style pork trotters (韩式猪脚) in Shenyang – tender & full of flavor- MUST TRY!
🦪 Steamed oyster with garlic from Color TV Night Market – simple, fragrant, satisfying- so affordable and fresh!
Grilled eel at Xita – smoky and delicious🤎
🍒🍓 Seasonal fruits: Dalian cherries (大连车厘子), Dandong strawberries (丹东草莓) – juicy and fresh- SUPER WORTHY!
🍠 Taro & purple sweet potato balls (芋泥紫薯丸子) + ice cream at Shenyang Palace – perfect mid-day treat.
…and so many more we couldn’t squeeze in.
Will be dreaming of Dongbei until next time. ✨🧊
